The most reliable route is vocal transcription: upload the recording to a tool that supports voice input, review the detected notes, then export a MIDI file for your DAW. For a sung melody, start with Sing2Notes; use Klangio Transcription Studio or Songscription when you also need broader instrument coverage or notation exports.
Prepare The Voice Recording
- Record one clearly audible vocal line when possible. Keep accompaniment low so the melody is easier to identify.
- Trim silence at the beginning and end, and remove sections where speech, applause or overlapping voices dominate.
- Save the original recording separately. Transcription converts detected pitches into note events; it does not preserve the original vocal performance inside the MIDI file.
Convert The Recording To MIDI
- Choose a service from the table below according to the recording and export formats you need.
- Open its upload or recording workflow and provide the voice file. Songscription also accepts browser recordings and links; Klangio Transcription Studio accepts audio plus YouTube, Instagram and TikTok links.
- Run the transcription, then inspect the result against the audio. Correct missed notes, extra notes and octave errors in the service when editing is available, or make those corrections after importing the MIDI into your DAW.
- Export MIDI. If you need printable notation or a file for notation software, export MusicXML or PDF where the selected service provides it.
- Import the MIDI into your DAW, assign a software instrument, and set the project tempo and quantization by ear. Keep the unquantized version until the phrasing sounds right.

Clean Up The MIDI After Export
- Mute the original audio briefly while checking the MIDI, then restore it to verify timing and pitch.
- Fix octave mistakes before quantizing. A note in the wrong register can sound more obvious than a slightly late note.
- Shorten notes that overlap unnaturally and join notes that should be held across a syllable.
- Keep breaths, slides and expressive pitch movement as audio references; MIDI exports represent detected notes rather than every vocal detail.

Only upload a voice recording you have permission to process, especially when it contains another person’s voice. Before publishing, selling or sharing the resulting MIDI or any audio made from it, check the selected service’s current plan and usage terms; the entries above establish export features and plan limits, but they do not establish a universal commercial licence for your recording.

If the recording is mostly speech, has several voices singing at once, or is longer than the service’s stated limit, split it into shorter, clearer sections and transcribe those separately. For unsupported cases, check the vendor’s current documentation before paying or relying on the export.
