He has been a guest commentator on regional public radio and received an SPJ Regional Award for explanatory reporting. Off duty, Benjamin restores vintage receivers and rides coastal cycling routes. At Specifiction he sets editorial standards, leads investigations, and oversees methodology across reviews, news, and tutorials.
Liam Smith – Senior Reviews Editor
Liam earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Washington and has 9 years of product-testing experience. He specializes in smartphones, laptops, monitors, and audio, with a focus on color accuracy, battery analytics, and thermal behavior under sustained loads. His work has been cited by display calibration communities, and he contributed to a multi-site testing protocol adopted by several outlets. Liam spends weekends on landscape photography and mechanical keyboards. He manages the test bench, trains contributors on repeatable measurements, and signs off on every scored review.
Oliver Johnson – Mobility and Auto Lead
Oliver holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and previously spent 7 years in an automotive R&D supplier role focused on battery systems and ADAS validation. At Specifiction he covers EVs, hybrids, charging standards, OTA updates, and in-car infotainment. He has presented on charging infrastructure at a regional SAE chapter and co-authored a white paper on thermal management in compact EV packs. William Johnson – How-To and Tutorials Editor
William graduated with a B.S. in Information Systems from Arizona State University and has 8 years of experience in IT support, device deployment, and knowledge-base writing. His specialties include operating system setup, data protection, smart home automation, and network troubleshooting. He received a community award for open-source documentation on home mesh networking. Away from the desk he cooks regional recipes and experiments with home lab gear. William owns the how-to pipeline, standardizes step-by-step playbooks, and maintains our troubleshooting library.
