Overview

Continuum is designed to identify accessibility defects before code reaches a live environment. Tests can inspect code snippets, individual page nodes, or fully rendered pages, allowing a team to place checks at the level its pipeline already handles. The Professional edition of Access Engine supplies automatic tests that run without human validation by default.

Automation has boundaries. Guided Automatics flag suspicious items for human review, while advisory tests are not run in Continuum. It therefore strengthens repeatable engineering checks rather than replacing a complete accessibility assessment.

Key features

Embedded and custom testing

An XML-based scripting framework lets a team author accessibility tests without first adopting a test framework or automation setup. That is a practical advantage for organizations building testing discipline from scratch. Teams with established automation can use CI/CD integration and sample projects for xUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Jasmine, Karma, Jest, Playwright, WebdriverIO, Robot Framework, and Appium.

The documented SDKs cover C#, Java, JavaScript, and Python, with Ruby included among supported package-repository languages. The product page also names iOS, Android, Appium, Cucumber, Python, Karma, Jasmine, Java, Ruby, and Sauce Labs integrations, giving cross-platform teams several routes into their existing stack.

Web, mobile and results

Continuum supports WCAG 2.1, automated scans, manual review tools, and mobile testing. Web and mobile examples include Appium projects for Android and iOS. Results can be returned as JSON for pipeline processing or exported to the Accessibility Management Platform (AMP) interface for a more visual workflow.

Implementation requirements

Continuum depends on AMP services for best-practice accessibility data, so AMP access and potentially network connectivity are part of the deployment. SDK installation also requires access to Level Access repositories including dl.levelaccess.net, npm.levelaccess.net, and nuget.levelaccess.net. Licensed customers receive personalized training and expert support for script customization, which helps with adoption but reinforces the product’s ecosystem commitment.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it means
Access Continuum	Custom pricing	Licensed product; request a demo for details

There is no self-serve tier or published seat, usage, trial, renewal, or quota information. Buyers should expect a procurement discussion before they can assess total cost. That model suits organizations budgeting for supported, customized accessibility engineering; it is a poor fit for an individual developer or small project that needs an immediate, predictable price.

Platforms

Continuum is available across Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows, with an API for integration. Its language and framework examples make it particularly relevant to mixed web-and-mobile CI environments rather than to browser-only spot checks.

Who it's for

Choose Continuum when developers own accessibility quality, automated tests already run in CI, and the organization can provision AMP and Level Access package repositories. The scripting option also serves teams that have not yet established a test framework. Look elsewhere if you need an independent scanner, transparent pricing, or a workflow that does not rely on AMP services.

Pros and cons

Pros

Fits existing automation: tests can target snippets, nodes, or rendered pages and integrate with CI/CD and numerous frameworks.
Useful for web and mobile: WCAG 2.1 checks and Appium examples cover Android and iOS alongside web projects.
Flexible authoring: XML scripting supports teams without a prior automation framework, while JSON output supports pipeline handling.
Implementation support: licensed customers receive personalized training and expert script-customization help.

Cons

AMP and repository dependency: deployment requires Level Access services and named package repositories, adding infrastructure and network considerations.
Automation is not exhaustive: guided findings still need human review and advisory tests are excluded.
Opaque cost: the sole licensed plan has custom pricing, with no published limits or trial terms.

Alternatives

WAVE is the better starting point for a freemium workflow or a low-cost API, with a subscription API beginning at 10.00 USD per month for a 250-credit minimum.

Assistiv Labs suits teams that want a free plan and trial with cross-platform assistive-technology testing; its Freelancer plan is 19.00 USD per month.

Evinced is a paid alternative with a free trial and coverage across web, mobile, API, extension, and self-hosted environments.

Total Validator fits buyers seeking freemium desktop and web options, including a free single-page summary and a 10.00 USD one-time Basic plan.

A11yInspect is preferable for no-login, unlimited webpage testing through a free plan.

Axe Developer Hub offers a free API-key tier for open-source projects or solo developers, with paid subscriptions beyond it.

Alfa is the choice for an open-source, MIT-licensed accessibility tool distributed as npm packages.

Welcoming Web is aimed at teams wanting a freemium accessibility widget, with a Pro plan from 19.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Access Continuum is a strong fit for development organizations embedding WCAG 2.1 checks across web and mobile CI pipelines, especially those that value script customization and supported integration. Choose it for that depth and workflow alignment; look elsewhere when AMP and repository dependencies or custom, unpublished pricing make a standalone, immediately purchasable tool the better decision.
