Overview

Cozi brings schedules, shopping, chores and dinner planning together for a household. Its color-coded shared calendar, agenda emails and automatic notifications help keep plans visible, and the same account can hold recipes and lists for daily tasks. Cozi has been made by Cozi since 2005; the maker is based in Seattle, Washington.

One account accommodates up to 12 family members, and every included member can view, add, edit and delete account data. That suits a household working from a shared source of truth, but not one that needs separate permissions for children, guests or other members. Calendar feeds to and from Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar are read-only, so Cozi is not a substitute for two-way calendar synchronization.

Key features

Calendar and coordination

The shared, color-coded calendar supports reminders and agenda emails. Gold allows up to three reminders per event, a useful upgrade for households that want repeated prompts; free includes automatic notifications. Video meeting support is also part of the offering, though the central use case remains family organization.

Lists and meal planning

Family members can share grocery lists and email one to someone picking up groceries. Shared to-do, chore, packing and other lists have no stated numerical cap, making them flexible for recurring household routines. The recipe library stores recipes, supports weekly dinner planning and can send recipe ingredients to a shopping list, linking meal choices to the next grocery run.

Access and support

Cozi is accessible on the web and through iOS and Android apps. It directs support requests to email rather than offering phone support; Gold subscribers receive priority email support. The privacy policy names OurFamilyWizard, LLC as the controller of personal data processed through the platforms and describes collection of account details such as names, email addresses and IP addresses.

Pricing

Cozi is freemium, with a free plan and two annual subscriptions. A two-week Gold trial is available when a subscription is started on the web; app store subscriptions do not offer that trial.

Cozi Free — 0.00 USD per free. Includes a shared family calendar, automatic notifications, shared grocery and to-do lists, and a recipe library. It is the sensible starting point for households that need the core organizer without paid extras.
Cozi Gold — 39.00 USD per year. Adds an ad-free experience and premium features, including up to three reminders per event; one subscription covers everyone in the account. It fits families who want more prompts and a household-wide upgrade without paying separately for members.
Cozi Max — 79.00 USD per year. Includes everything in Gold plus AI Event Import, AI Recipe Creator and AI Meal Planner. The higher tier is for households that specifically want those AI-powered tools; otherwise Gold is the lower-cost paid choice.

The free plan gives up Gold's ad-free experience, premium features and higher reminder allowance, as well as Max's AI tools. The paid subscriptions apply to the whole account, rather than charging per family member.

Platforms

Cozi runs on the web, iOS and Android. That covers browser access alongside mobile apps, but no desktop app is among its stated platforms. Calendar connections to Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar are read-only feeds rather than two-way sync.

Who it's for

Cozi is a good fit for families who want a shared calendar, household lists and recipes in one place, especially when all members can have the same level of access. The 12-member account limit is ample for many households, while the shared account pricing keeps Gold or Max from scaling by seat. It is a poor fit for families requiring restricted permissions or bidirectional calendar updates.

Pros and cons

Pros: One account supports up to 12 members, and one paid subscription covers them all.
Pros: Calendar, shopping and household task lists, recipes and dinner planning work together rather than as separate family tools.
Pros: Shared to-do, chore, packing and other lists have no stated count limit.
Cons: Calendar feeds are read-only, so external calendar changes do not sync back and forth.
Cons: Every account member can view, add, edit and delete data; there is no restricted-access option.
Cons: Support is by email, not phone, and the Gold trial is limited to subscriptions started on the web.

Alternatives

Family Calendar Apps and Calendar apps are useful directories for comparing options across those categories.

Famnest is worth considering if you want chores and routines alongside family calendars, meal planning and recipes, with a free plan.
FamilyWall may suit households that also want a messenger and contact book alongside a free shared calendar and lists.
TimeTree is an alternative if multiple shared calendars, comments and photos are priorities.
Ahenora offers a free plan described for two adults, with tasks, calendar, shared lists, family chat and reminders.
Cozyla Calendar is an option for families using Android or iOS who want a calendar included with a device and a customizable dashboard.
Fami is another free family organizer, with a shared calendar, chores, shopping list, budget and family places.
OpenFamily is the alternative to consider if self-hosting is a priority; its self-hosted plan is free.
Skylight Calendar is an alternative centered on a 10-inch touchscreen calendar with task management and color coding.

Verdict

Choose Cozi if your household wants one shared place for plans, lists and meals, and everyone can use the same account permissions. Its broad family toolkit and account-wide subscription are the main reasons to pick it. Look elsewhere if you require two-way calendar sync or controlled access for individual members.
