Overview

Employees can request leave for HR or a manager to approve, retrieve documents attached to their own record, acknowledge policies, and sign documents without printing. They can also access older documents. Restricting each person to their own requests, records, and files gives staff self-service without opening colleagues’ records to them.

Requests, signatures, and acknowledgements show up for HR in real time, making the portal useful for keeping employee actions visible to the people responsible for follow-up. It runs in a browser on phones, tablets, and computers. HRDocket says it serves teams from a dozen employees to several thousand; in practice, the plan caps mean Growth covers up to 50 employees and Business is the option for larger teams.

Key features

Leave, policies, and signatures

Employees submit leave requests, while HR or a manager retains approval. Staff can review and acknowledge policies and complete signatures in the portal. Policy templates, version history, and automated reminders support policy administration, while audit-grade e-signatures are included with every paid plan.

Compliance and access

Growth adds AI compliance and risk assessment checks; Business adds advanced compliance workflows. These tools may matter to organizations that want compliance work alongside employee self-service, but they are not included in the lower tiers. Employee-specific access is a clear strength for teams sharing one portal.

Pricing

HRDocket uses a freemium model, with a free trial and paid plans starting at $19/mo. The portal itself requires Growth or Business, so the lower-priced options do not provide the central employee-facing feature.

Plan	Price and limits	Best fit
Free	Free; up to 1 employee profile, 1 company, 10 AI credits, limited templates, and watermarked PDF downloads.	A single-profile trial of the broader HRDocket offering, not a team self-service portal.
Starter	19.00 USD per month; up to 15 employees, 120 AI credits/month, 2 companies, and 2 custom templates. Annual billing is $15.83/mo billed annually ($190), with 2 months free.	Small teams needing more profiles and templates, but not the employee self-service portal.
Growth	49.00 USD per month; up to 50 employees, 250 AI credits/month, 3 companies, 5 custom templates, and the employee self-service portal. Annual billing is $40.83/mo billed annually ($490), with 2 months free.	The entry point for teams choosing this product specifically for employee self-service.
Business	99.00 USD per month; unlimited employees, 600 AI credits/month, 4 companies, 7 custom templates, dedicated support, and advanced compliance workflows. Annual billing is $82.50/mo billed annually ($990), with 2 months free.	Larger teams that exceed Growth’s 50-employee cap or need dedicated support and advanced compliance workflows.

The lower plans impose meaningful constraints: Free is capped at one employee profile and has watermarked downloads, while Starter supports up to 15 employees but omits the portal. Growth is the first tier that delivers the self-service workflow; Business removes the employee limit but still caps companies at four.

Platforms

The portal is web-based and works from any device with a browser, including phones and tablets. That suits teams that need mobile access without a separate app.

Who it's for

Choose HRDocket when employees need one place to request leave, reach their own records, acknowledge policies, and sign documents, while HR keeps approval authority and visibility. Growth is the most relevant fit for teams of up to 50; Business makes more sense above that threshold or when dedicated support and advanced compliance workflows are priorities. It is not the right pick for a team seeking self-service at Starter pricing.

Pros and cons

Pros: One portal covers leave requests, documents, policy acknowledgements, and signatures, reducing the need for employees to handle those tasks through separate routes.
Pros: Employee-specific access limits exposure to each person’s own files, requests, and records.
Pros: Paid plans include audit-grade e-signatures; browser access covers phones and tablets as well as computers.
Cons: The self-service portal starts at Growth, making the $19.00 USD per month Starter plan insufficient for the product’s defining use.
Cons: Growth tops out at 50 employees, so larger organizations must move to Business at 99.00 USD per month.
Cons: The Free plan’s single employee profile, limited templates, and watermarked downloads constrain its use for a working team.

Alternatives

For policy-focused needs, compare HR Policy Management Software and HR Knowledge Base Software as category lists. Firmis is a web freemium option with a free tier for up to five policies and 10 team members, basic version control, PDF export, and self-serve docs; choose it when that smaller policy-and-document scope is enough. TrackOlap Policy Center is a paid option with Android, iOS, web, and API platforms and quarterly or yearly billing options; consider it when those platform choices matter.

AirMason is a paid web, Android, and iOS option with a Startup plan at 149.00 USD per month for 1 to 99 employees and unlimited digital handbooks, making it a fit to compare when handbook publishing is the priority. NEOGOV Insight has custom pricing based on selected products and agency size, so it is an alternative to consider if that pricing model suits your buying process. Akcepta offers a self-hosted or web free tier with one active policy and no employee sending; it fits a narrow policy approval use case better than employee self-service.

Corethix Policies is another paid option with Android, iOS, and web access. Accedo has a free web plan for up to 25 users and 10 active policies, but excludes groups, scheduled reminders, and analytics; it may suit a small team focused on active policies. Diligent Audit is a paid Android, iOS, web, and API option with pricing available by request.

Verdict

HRDocket Employee Self-Service is a strong fit for teams that want controlled, employee-specific access to leave, records, policies, and signatures in one browser portal, with HR retaining approval and real-time oversight. Choose Growth for a team of up to 50; look elsewhere if the portal must fit a Starter budget, or choose Business when Growth’s cap is too low.
