Overview

Animaze animates customizable 2D and 3D avatars for streams, calls and recordings. It is a strong fit for creators with existing avatar models who want tracking and broadcast tools in one workflow. Its breadth is appealing, but the plan and commercial-rights terms matter as much as the feature set.

Key features

Animaze accepts Live2D, VRM, Ready Player Me and Union Avatars models; artist guides also cover GLB/GLTF and FBX. The PC Avatar Editor lets users import and test models created in Live2D or 3D modeling tools, then export them for Animaze. That makes it useful for creators bringing their own assets, rather than depending on the included Originals. Pro limits editable Holotech Originals content to 2 avatars, 5 accessories, 2 backgrounds and 3 emotes, which may constrain users who want to customize several included characters.

Tracking supports webcam and iPhone use, with additional tracker support for Leap Motion, audio-based lip trackers and Tobii eye trackers. Lip sync, full-body and hand tracking, virtual camera output, recording and webcam recording extend its use beyond a simple avatar overlay. It also connects with OBS, Streamlabs, Discord, Zoom, Google Meet, Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Gaming, covering both creator broadcasts and video calls.

For app developers, the Enterprise SDK provides cross-platform APIs to add interactive digital characters to iOS, Android or PC apps. Business plans include fast-track support, while Enterprise adds IP protection tools and bespoke engineering. The EEA privacy policy says camera images and facial tracking data are used at runtime and are not collected, recorded or stored by the company.

Pricing

It is a sensible starting point for trying the workflow; users who need watermark removal, higher frame rates or video export will need a paid tier.

Plus costs 3.99 USD per month, billed $47.88/year. It removes the watermark and adds Animaze Original content, 60 FPS streaming, a dedicated capture window and MP4 export. This is the clearest step up for streamers and video creators who need clean output and recording, without the stated Pro content allowance.

Pro costs 9.99 USD per month, billed $119.88/year. It includes 2 avatars, 5 accessories, 2 backgrounds and 3 emotes. That allowance suits a creator who can work within a small editable Originals collection; users with extensive customization needs should consider whether their own imported models better suit their workflow.

Small Business costs 499.99 USD per year for businesses generating less than $175,000; Business Plus costs 1699.99 USD per year for businesses generating more than $175,000. Both include fast-track support, watermark removal, 60 FPS, MP4 export and paid content access. For business use of 2D avatars, both require a separate Live2D commercial license, an additional cost and licensing step to account for.

Enterprise has custom pricing and is aimed at companies needing a tailored solution, commercial rights, IP protection tools, bespoke engineering or the SDK. The Pro individual plan lists commercial rights for streamers earning $6,000 per year; creators outside that stated scope should not assume those terms cover their use.

Platforms

Animaze supports Android, iOS and Windows, and its Enterprise SDK targets iOS, Android and PC apps. The platform range suits creators working across phones and Windows, though macOS and Linux are not among the supported platforms stated for Animaze.

Who it's for

Animaze is best suited to streamers, YouTubers, VTubers, artists and creatives who want to animate imported avatars across live streams, calls and recordings. Businesses can use its business plans, while app makers needing in-app digital characters have a distinct Enterprise SDK route. It is less compelling for users who need an unrestricted Originals editor or whose commercial use falls outside the plan terms.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad model imports and an editor/export workflow accommodate creators with existing Live2D and 3D assets.
Pro: Webcam and iPhone tracking, plus support for specialist trackers, give users several ways to drive avatars.
Pro: Integrations span streaming, social video and meeting tools, so the avatar workflow can serve more than one format.
Con: Pro's Originals allowance is limited to 2 avatars, 5 accessories, 2 backgrounds and 3 emotes.
Con: Business plans require a separate Live2D commercial license for 2D avatars.
Con: The stated platforms omit macOS and Linux, limiting fit for creators using those systems.

Alternatives

XR Animator is a free alternative for readers who want a free option across Android, Linux, macOS, web and Windows. For Live2D-focused creators, VTube Studio offers webcam and smartphone tracking with voice-based lip sync on its free plan, though its platform range differs. Webcam Motion Capture is worth comparing if trying all tracking features for free is the priority; it supports iOS, macOS and Windows.

nizima LIVE suits Windows or macOS users who can work within a free plan capped at 40 minutes of continuous camera use, with a logo displayed and some features limited. veadotube offers a free mini version on Windows, Linux and macOS for readers considering a different free avatar tool. Warudo is a Windows option that is free for personal use, while commercial use requires contacting the company.

VTuber Maker is another free Windows alternative. PNGTuber Plus is free, with optional support payments, for readers seeking PNG avatar customization and sprite sheets on Windows, macOS or Linux. For broader comparisons, see VTuber Software, 2D Character Animation Software, Motion Capture Software, Webcam Software and 3D Character Animation Software.

Verdict

Choose Animaze if you want one avatar workflow for imported 2D or 3D models, varied tracking and connections to streaming and meeting tools. Its strongest advantage is flexibility across creator use cases; look elsewhere if you need macOS or Linux support, broader editable Originals allowances, or commercial terms that fit without a separate Live2D license.
