Overview

Process Lasso is a Windows process automation and optimization tool for people who want control over how applications run, not just a view of current activity. It suits users who need persistent rules and background enforcement; the catch is that several advanced features are trial-limited in Free, and commercial users must buy within 30 days of deployment.

Its mix of priority management, process rules and power automation makes it a stronger fit for recurring system tuning than for casual process inspection. If you need the same controls on macOS or Linux, look elsewhere.

Key features

Persistent control and automation

ProBalance adjusts running programs’ priorities during high CPU loads to help keep the system responsive. Process Lasso can also retain CPU affinities, CPU sets and priorities when processes launch, while rules can set those controls, change power profiles or trigger actions based on thresholds and other criteria. This gives users a way to apply repeatable policies instead of making the same adjustments by hand.

CPU Limiter, Instance Balancer and Group Extender broaden the algorithm set. The limitation is that CPU Limiter, Instance Balancer, power plan automation, Process Watchdog and several other features are trial-only in Free. That makes Free useful for ongoing access to some capabilities, but not a permanent substitute for Pro when those controls matter.

Power, logging and background operation

Power plan automation can switch plans when selected processes run or when the system is idle. Keep Awake can prevent sleep for a set time or while chosen processes run, which is useful when a workload must keep going unattended. Activity logging can record process launches and other selected system activity for later review.

The separate Process Governor service enforces algorithms and rules without requiring the graphical interface to remain open. That is a practical advantage for unattended setups; users who only want a conventional task manager may find this degree of automation unnecessary.

Privacy and support

Bitsum says Process Lasso does not transmit personal files, documents or process contents, while activation and update checks communicate with the company. Bitsum also says it does not store full payment instrument details or sell personal information, and uses PayPal and Stripe as payment providers. Installers are signed by “Bitsum Technologies (Bitsum LLC)”. Premium support is a Pro feature, with support by email at support@bitsum.com.

Pricing

Process Lasso uses a freemium model with a 30-day trial. Process Lasso Free costs 0.00 USD per free and may be used indefinitely by most users, but some features are trial-limited. Commercial use requires purchase within 30 days of deployment, so the free plan is not a long-term commercial option.

The listed single-PC offers are Single PC Monthly at 4.95 USD per month, recurring and cancellable at any time, and Single PC Annual at 24.95 USD per year, also recurring and cancellable at any time. Single PC Lifetime is priced at 39.95 USD per month. The home options cover five PCs: Entire Home Monthly is 5.95 USD per month, recurring and cancellable at any time; Entire Home Annual is 36.95 USD per year, recurring and cancellable at any time; and Entire Home Lifetime is 59.95 USD per month. These are the clearest fit for one or several personal machines, with annual billing costing less than twelve monthly payments at the listed rates.

Separate Pro plans are also offered with custom pricing. Single-PC monthly and annual subscriptions are for home or commercial use; the lifetime option is a one-time payment and includes all minor and major updates in perpetuity. Entire Home plans cover up to five PCs with the same owner and are non-commercial; the lifetime option is a one-time payment with all minor and major updates in perpetuity. Prices may not include taxes. The cheaper Free plan gives up permanent access to trial-only features, while Pro is the route for those controls and premium support.

Platforms

Process Lasso runs on Windows 7–11 and Windows Server 2012–2025. Its Windows-only scope is a material constraint for households or teams that need consistent process management across operating systems.

Who it's for

Choose Process Lasso if you repeatedly tune process priorities, affinities or power behavior on Windows and want rules enforced in the background. It is also a good fit when process-launch logging or keeping a system awake for selected workloads matters. It is less compelling for users who only need to inspect processes, need cross-platform controls, or require commercial use without purchasing promptly.

Pros and cons

Persistent process settings: affinities, CPU sets and priorities can be reapplied at launch, reducing repeated manual tuning.
Automation beyond priority control: rules can affect power profiles and trigger actions, and the background service can enforce them without the interface open.
Useful operational tools: Keep Awake and activity logging address unattended workloads and process auditing.
Meaningful Free restrictions: several advanced features are trial-only, and commercial use has a 30-day purchase deadline.
Windows-only: it cannot provide the same process controls on macOS or Linux.

Alternatives

For a broader monitoring or optimization shortlist, see Process Monitoring Software and PC Optimization Software.

PM2 is a better direction for a process manager with a real-time web interface and platforms spanning Windows, Linux, macOS and self-hosted environments; its Runtime plan is free, while Plus is 79.00 USD per month. For free, open-source system monitoring across Windows and other platforms, consider Glances; optional features require extra dependencies. bottom (btm) is another free option for Linux, macOS and Windows, with no price or usage limits stated on its opened pages.

Monit, Supervisor and runit are free alternatives oriented toward Linux, macOS or self-hosted environments rather than Process Lasso’s Windows focus. Ambih Monitor is a Windows monitoring alternative with live monitoring and five-session history per project on Free, while Pro adds unlimited session history for 10.00 USD per month billed annually. Remote Process Explorer is another Windows option: its free personal license is limited to non-commercial use on one computer, while its business license costs 149.95 USD per license.

Verdict

Process Lasso is a strong choice for Windows users who want persistent process policies, responsive behavior under load and unattended rule enforcement. Its chief reason to buy is the breadth of control and automation; look elsewhere if you need cross-platform coverage or want the trial-limited features without moving to a paid plan.
