Overview

AvePoint Cloud Backup is a cloud service for protecting business data across SaaS and cloud platforms. It is most compelling for organizations responsible for several workloads, especially Microsoft environments, that need more than content-only restores. Its recovery breadth and security controls are strong; custom pricing makes it harder to judge fit before speaking with AvePoint.

Key features

Coverage spans Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, Google Workspace, Azure, Power Platform, Microsoft Entra ID and other SaaS applications. That makes the service a practical candidate for teams seeking a shared backup approach across multiple cloud workloads, but potentially more than a single-service organization needs. Microsoft 365 coverage includes Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, Viva Engage, Planner, Project Online and Power Platform.

Backups run multiple times daily, and AvePoint says storage and retention are unlimited. Ransomware detection helps identify suspicious activity, while encryption, immutability and logical air-gapping add safeguards around backup data. App-aware recovery can restore configurations, versions and permissions as well as data, which matters when an incident disrupts service setup or access rights. These capabilities suit organizations with demanding recovery needs, though buyers should weigh their value against the product's custom-priced model.

Restore options include item-level recovery, data export and cross-tenant restores. Destinations include AvePoint storage, cloud storage and FTP/SFTP-compatible locations, giving administrators choices for retaining or moving recovery data. Salesforce backups can capture records and metadata up to four times a day and retain copies outside Salesforce. Google Workspace protection covers Gmail, Drive, Shared Drives, Contacts and Calendars, with granular or bulk restore.

AvePoint lists ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27017:2015 certifications; the latter's scope includes its SaaS services and solutions. For Microsoft 365, it says data is protected in transit and at rest and supports Bring Your Own Storage and Bring Your Own Key. These options are useful for organizations with specific storage or key-control requirements. SaaS purchases include 24/7 Global Premium Support by phone, chatbot and online portal.

Pricing

AvePoint Cloud Backup: custom pricing; request pricing from AvePoint. There is no published price to compare against a team's workload count or budget, so buyers should clarify costs for their intended coverage before committing. No seat, quota, trial or renewal terms are established here.

Platforms

The service is available on Android, iOS and the web, and its deployment model is cloud. Its workload breadth is a better reason to consider it than the client platform list alone.

Who it's for

AvePoint positions Cloud Backup for cloud service administrators, security executives and end users, and promotes multi-tenant management for managed service providers. It is best suited to organizations consolidating protection across cloud workloads or needing flexible restore paths and strong backup safeguards. A team seeking protection for only one uncomplicated service may find the breadth unnecessary, particularly without a published price to establish value.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad coverage across Microsoft, Salesforce, Google Workspace and other cloud workloads can serve organizations with mixed environments.
Pro: Item-level, cross-tenant and app-aware recovery address different recovery needs, including configurations and permissions.
Pro: Unlimited storage and retention, alongside immutability and logical air-gapping, support long-term protection strategies.
Con: Custom pricing requires a sales conversation before buyers can assess cost against their needs.
Con: Its breadth may be unnecessary for organizations protecting one small or straightforward workload.

Verdict

Choose AvePoint Cloud Backup if your organization needs to protect several cloud workloads and values flexible, detailed recovery backed by immutability and logical air-gapping. Its strongest case is the combination of broad coverage and recovery that includes configurations and permissions. Look elsewhere if you need a clear price before engaging a vendor or only require a narrow, simple backup service.
