Overview

BIMcollab brings document management, BIM coordination, and model checking together for building and infrastructure teams. It is best suited to multi-discipline teams that need to connect model review with issue workflows; its strongest case is the breadth of coordination tools, while storage and guest limits deserve attention when choosing a plan.

The browser-based WebViewer supports IFC models, and BIMcollab Zoom adds downloadable model viewing on Windows and Mac OS X. BCF issue management works through plug-ins for BIM tools, with exports to BCF, PDF, CSV, and XLS. Founded in 2014, BIMcollab is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Key features

Model review: BIMcollab Zoom supports Smart Views, clash detection, and IDS checks. Its free mode includes model viewing, annotations, BCF issue management, and visual validation through Smart Views, making it a useful starting point for review workflows without a paid subscription.
Issue workflows: BCF-based issues can be managed through BIM-tool plug-ins and exported in four formats. That supports teams coordinating findings across tools, though the exports do not remove the need to decide how those issues fit into a team’s wider process.
Integrations: BIMcollab connects to more than 35 integrations, including Power BI, Solibri, Trimble Connect, AutoCAD, Autodesk Docs, and Revit. That range is a practical advantage for teams already using those tools.
Security and support: BIMcollab states that it is ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS certified. Cloud data is stored in the Netherlands unless the customer uses an on-premise installation. Its security page says SOC 2 audit reports for SSAE 16 are not available, a consideration for organizations that require them. Support is offered by email, video call, and live chat during regular CET business hours, alongside Help Center articles and tutorials.

Pricing

BIMcollab offers a free plan and free trial, as well as per-user subscriptions. Paid plans include unlimited projects and fair-use file conversions; the main listed differences are storage and guest access. Basic is capped at 10 GB per space and one guest access, while Advanced and Enterprise offer unlimited storage and two guest accesses. Those caps make Basic a better fit for smaller teams with modest file needs; teams needing more storage or guest participation must move up.

Basic (annual commitment): 12.50 EUR per month, billed annually, per user. Includes 10 GB storage per space, one guest access, unlimited projects, and fair-use file conversions.
Advanced (annual commitment): 18.75 EUR per month, billed annually, per user. Includes unlimited storage, two guest accesses, unlimited projects, and fair-use file conversions.
Enterprise (annual commitment): 25.00 EUR per month, billed annually, per user. Includes the Advanced storage and guest allowance, unlimited projects, fair-use file conversions, and contact with sales.
Basic (monthly): 19.00 EUR per month, billed monthly, per user, with 10 GB storage per space, one guest access, unlimited projects, and fair-use file conversions.
Advanced (monthly): 29.00 EUR per month, billed monthly, per user, with unlimited storage, two guest accesses, unlimited projects, and fair-use file conversions.
Enterprise (monthly): 39.00 EUR per month, billed monthly, per user, with unlimited storage, two guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair-use file conversions, and contact with sales.

Annual commitment lowers the monthly per-user price for each paid tier, in exchange for committing annually. On-premise installation on customer servers is available only for Enterprise plans with 500 or more users, so smaller organizations or teams seeking self-hosting should look elsewhere.

Platforms

BIMcollab lists Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, web, API, and self-hosted support. The WebViewer handles IFC models in a browser; Zoom is downloadable for Windows and Mac OS X. Mobile access is viewer-focused, which may suit field users who need to inspect models but not a full desktop review workflow.

Who it's for

BIMcollab is a strong fit for multi-discipline building and infrastructure teams that need IFC viewing, BCF issue coordination, model checking, and links to established BIM tools in one platform. Teams with a limited storage footprint can start with Basic, while those needing unlimited storage have Advanced and Enterprise options. It is less suitable for organizations that require SOC 2 audit reports or on-premise deployment below the 500-user Enterprise threshold.

Pros and cons

Pro: Smart Views, clash detection, and IDS checks bring substantive model-checking capabilities into Zoom, with a free mode covering core viewing and issue tasks.
Pro: BCF workflows and exports in BCF, PDF, CSV, and XLS connect coordination to common BIM processes.
Pro: Paid plans include unlimited projects, and Advanced and Enterprise remove the stated storage cap.
Con: Basic limits each space to 10 GB and guest access to one, which can constrain collaboration as files and outside participants grow.
Con: Cloud data is stored in the Netherlands, and on-premise installation is limited to Enterprise plans with at least 500 users.
Con: SOC 2 audit reports for SSAE 16 are not available, which can be disqualifying for some procurement requirements.

Alternatives

For a free punch-list workflow, Dalux offers a free Field Basic plan with unlimited tasks and up to three active projects or buildings under its free-use terms; choose it when that bounded project allowance and punch-list focus better match the need.

Trimble Viewpoint Vista is an alternative for buyers considering cloud-hosted or on-premises deployments with pricing by contacting sales. ProjectTeam.com offers a no-cost Contributor option for invited-project access, shared forms, and files, with access dependent on a Subscriber.

PlanRadar is a paid alternative with a free trial and a Basic plan priced at 32.00 USD per month per user. Asite is another paid option, with Asite 3D Repo starting at 50.00 USD per contact per user and Common Data Environment starting at 70.00 USD per contact per user.

Newforma Project Center is an alternative with Standard Edition and Contract Management Edition plans at custom pricing. SKYSITE offers paid plans, including Projects Basic at 19.00 USD per month with unlimited storage and sheets. InEight offers paid plans including Compliance & Completions NOW at 55.00 USD per month for individuals or small teams.

Verdict

Choose BIMcollab if your team needs model checking and BCF issue coordination connected to BIM tools, with a free mode for starting out and paid plans that scale storage. Look elsewhere if your procurement requires SOC 2 reports or if you need customer-server deployment without a 500-user Enterprise plan.
