Overview

Founded in 2012 and based in New York, Continu brings course creation, assignment workflows, reporting, and audience portals into one learning system. Branded external portals and separate Hubs can serve different audiences or sub-brands, while Eddy delivers learning answers and training through Slack, Microsoft Teams, and SMS.

Organizations can connect Continu with tools including Workday, Salesforce, BambooHR, Zoom, Google Meet, LinkedIn Learning, and Udemy for Business. Its scope crosses Customer Education Software, Partner Training Software, and Learning Management Systems.

Key features

Build, assign, and measure learning

Built-in authoring and AI assistance support courses, learning journeys, and assessments. Automated assignment workflows can direct training to learners, and Continu Insights produces real-time reports from learning data. Together, these capabilities suit organizations running ongoing programs across employee and external audiences; a team that only needs a basic course library may find the platform broader than necessary. Assessments and certificates provide ways to evaluate learning and recognize completion.

Portals and learning support

Branded portals serve external audiences, and Hubs separate learning experiences for sub-brands. That flexibility is useful when one organization needs distinct learner-facing experiences, but it is less compelling for a single, uniform audience. Eddy extends access to learning answers and training into Slack, Microsoft Teams, and SMS.

Security and operational commitments

Continu says it undergoes annual SOC 2 Type II audits, encrypts data at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2 or 1.3, and complies with GDPR and CCPA. It also advertises a 99.99% uptime guarantee and publishes status at status.continu.co. These commitments may matter to enterprise buyers assessing operational risk, alongside its stated ISO 27001 practices.

Screen-recording assessments require learners to install Continu’s Chrome screen-capture extension. That requirement adds a browser-specific step for learners completing that assessment type.

Pricing

Continu is paid software with custom pricing and no free plan. Its tiers are sized by monthly active users, but all three require a quote, so buyers cannot compare a published entry price against their expected usage.

Plan	Monthly active users	Best fit
Growth	Under 1,000	Smaller organizations beginning with Continu; includes access to implementation experts, success experts, technical support, and self-service training resources.
Professional	1,000–5,000	Organizations whose active learner base exceeds Growth’s threshold.
Enterprise	5,000 or more	Organizations with the largest stated user tier.

Implementation costs 10% of the first-year contract value, and Continu recommends allowing 60 days for setup. Buyers should account for both the additional implementation charge and the lead time when planning a rollout. No free tier offers a low-commitment way to evaluate the platform.

Platforms

Continu supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows, as well as the web, an API, and an extension. The extension is specifically required for learners completing screen-recording assessments.

Who it's for

Continu is best suited to organizations coordinating employee, customer, or partner education and needing creation tools, automated assignments, reporting, and audience-specific portals in one platform. Its broad audience support and integrations make it a fit for established learning programs. Small teams seeking a free starting point, a published price, or a short setup are better served by a simpler option.

Pros and cons

Pros: Authoring, AI assistance, assignment workflows, assessments, certificates, and real-time reporting cover multiple stages of a learning program.
Pros: Branded portals and Hubs support distinct external audiences and sub-brands.
Pros: Eddy brings learning support into Slack, Microsoft Teams, and SMS.
Cons: Custom pricing across all tiers makes budget comparisons harder before a sales conversation.
Cons: The 10% first-year implementation fee and recommended 60-day setup add cost and planning overhead.
Cons: Screen-recording assessments require learners to install a Chrome extension.

Alternatives

Choose Wisetail if you want a paid learning platform spanning Android, iOS, macOS, web, Windows, and API, with solutions ranging from getting started to enterprise on a custom quote.

iSpring LMS is a better fit for buyers who want a free trial and a published Business price: 3.97 USD per year, billed $23,790 annual price; $3.97 USD per user/month for 500 users, with payment only for active users.

For restaurant workforce management with customizable training programs, consider Restaurant365 Training, which is offered on a custom quote.

Typsy may suit hospitality teams that want a published Team plan at 120.00 USD per year, billed $120.00 USD per member per year, for up to 100 members, with 2,000+ hospitality resources, mobile learning, certificates, and badges.

5Mins.ai is an option for teams seeking a published compliance-focused package: Essentials costs 200.00 GBP per month, billed yearly, starts from 20 users, and includes 10 compliance courses and 5 AI videos.

Crunchtime TalentLink is another paid option for teams comparing learning tools.

eloomi is worth considering if a course builder, SCORM content, learning plans, and certifications and renewals are central requirements; its Play plan has no published price.

Nano LMS is the alternative to consider if a free plan and self-hosted or web deployment are priorities.

Verdict

Choose Continu if your organization needs one platform for creating and delivering learning across employees, customers, and partners, with reporting and separate audience experiences. Its strongest case is that breadth; the reasons to look elsewhere are equally clear: custom pricing, an added implementation fee, a planned 60-day setup, and a Chrome-extension requirement for screen-recording assessments.
