Overview

Epic Stock Media sells sound libraries and an online subscription library for creators building audio for games, film, video and interactive projects. It suits sound designers and production teams that want broad commercial-use audio, with either a one-time collection purchase or ongoing Cloud Vault access. The choice is strongest for buyers who can work within a one-user license and, for subscriptions, a monthly download cap.

The catalog spans effects, music, samples, loops, clips, foley and background audio. Epic Stock Media says its searchable catalog contains more than 500,000 items; Cloud Vault offers more than 100,000 premium sound effects for search, preview and download. The company began in 2014 as a family business founded by two brothers and their father.

Key features

Cloud access and downloadable collections

Cloud Vault is the subscription option: both listed plans include all Cloud Vault content libraries, custom sound requests and priority support, with 300 sounds available per month. That makes it useful for recurring work, but the fixed quota is a constraint for teams with heavy or unpredictable sound needs.

One-time collections are a better fit when a project needs a defined library without an ongoing subscription. Trailer Vault contains 8,003 effects across 25 libraries, while Game Vault offers 115,410 effects across 111 libraries and Master Vault 162,604 effects across 235 libraries. These larger bundles involve substantial storage: the listed Game and Master Vaults are 250+ GB and 350+ GB respectively.

Formats, delivery and licensing

Master Vault materials include 96kHz/24-bit, 44.1kHz/16-bit and game-ready MP3 formats; files are also offered in WAV and MP3. Vault libraries are described as compatible with major sound-editing and video-editing software, DAWs and game engines. Purchases arrive as downloadable ZIP or RAR archives through order email or the customer account. Download links expire five days after the order date, though they can be reactivated.

The commercial, worldwide, royalty-free license allows unlimited use for one user and is perpetual. It does not permit reselling raw sound files, sharing them with unlicensed third parties, embedding them in audio software or hardware, or using them to train commercial machine-learning algorithms. Those limits rule out some redistribution and product-development uses, despite the broad commercial grant.

Pricing

Epic Stock Media is freemium: Free Sound Vaults is free and includes 1,922 free sounds. That is a useful way to start, but it is a small subset of the broader collections.

Trailer Vault — 249.00 USD per once: 8,003 effects, 25 libraries, 180+ GB and 36+ hours. A focused one-time collection for trailer work.
Voice Vault — 299.00 USD per once: 20,370 effects, 46 libraries, 25 GB and 12+ hours, plus one year of new voice releases. It suits projects centered on voice material.
Cloud Vault Specialist — 299.00 USD per year: 300 sounds per month, all Cloud Vault content libraries, custom requests, priority support and a royalty-free annual license. The lower-cost subscription is the more economical recurring option, but still carries the monthly cap.
Cloud Vault Squads — 999.00 USD per year: Includes the same stated 300 monthly sounds, library access, custom requests, priority support and annual royalty-free license. The higher price does not come with a higher stated download quota, so buyers should confirm that the plan fits their usage before committing.
Game Vault — 1149.00 USD per once: 115,410 effects across 111 libraries, 250+ GB and 99+ hours, with one year of updates and new releases. Best for buyers seeking a broad game-audio collection rather than subscription access.
Master Vault — 1649.00 USD per once: 162,604 effects across 235 libraries, 350+ GB and 320+ hours, with one year of updates and new releases. It is the broadest listed one-time bundle, but requires the most storage and upfront spend.

The downloadable collections are billed once; the two Cloud Vault subscriptions are billed yearly. One-time bundles include a single-user license, and the stated general license also applies to one user. Customer support is available daily, while other departments are generally closed on weekends and holidays.

Platforms

Epic Stock Media is listed for macOS, Windows and the web. Its library compatibility with major editing software, DAWs and game engines makes it relevant across post-production and interactive audio workflows.

Who it's for

Game developers, filmmakers, sound designers, freelancers, in-house teams and studios can choose between a free starter library, specialist collections and Cloud Vault subscriptions. It is particularly well suited to a solo creator who needs commercial-use audio and can manage a 300-sound monthly subscription allowance, or to a buyer who prefers owning a collection outright. Teams should examine the one-user license carefully: it does not grant use to unlicensed colleagues.

Pros and cons

Pros: The mix of focused purchases, large bundles and cloud access lets buyers match acquisition style to project needs.
Pros: The stated license covers worldwide commercial use perpetually for one user, with WAV and MP3 formats and broad editing-software compatibility.
Cons: Both subscriptions specify only 300 downloads per month, limiting high-volume use.
Cons: The license bars third-party redistribution, embedding in audio software or hardware, and commercial machine-learning training, narrowing some product and platform uses.
Cons: Larger one-time bundles require hundreds of gigabytes of storage, and download links initially expire after five days.

Alternatives

Soundly is another freemium option for macOS and Windows; its free plan includes 3,000+ sounds and indexes 10,000 local effects, which may suit users who value local-library indexing.

99Sounds is a free alternative with royalty-free sound libraries and plugins under its site license, suitable for buyers seeking free libraries rather than Epic Stock Media's paid collection tiers.

Pro Sound Effects sells one-time libraries with 1-user lifetime licenses, including Cinematic Dread at 79.00 USD per once and All Metal at 99.00 USD per once; choose it when a focused lifetime-licensed library is preferable.

Sound Ideas offers Creator Access at 500.00 USD per year with 100 downloads and access to over 600K sounds; it may suit buyers who prefer a smaller annual download allowance against a larger stated catalog.

The Recordist offers a one-time Complete collection priced at 8800.00 USD, with 100+ libraries and 92,500+ sounds; consider it when a large paid collection is the priority.

ZapSplat has a free web plan with MP3-only downloads, limits and required attribution, while its Teams monthly plan is 2.99 GBP per month per seat. It is a better fit for users who prioritize a low-cost seat-based option and can accept those free-tier conditions.

Rogue Waves Libraries is a web-based alternative with a free 276-file WAVE library and a paid 714-file library, suited to buyers comparing smaller specified collections.

BOOM Library offers BOOM ONE at 495.00 USD per year, with a minimum three-year term and access to its sounds with monthly updates. Choose it if that subscription structure better suits the production workflow.

Verdict

Epic Stock Media is a strong fit for solo creators and sound designers who need commercial audio across formats and want either a focused library or a very large one-time collection. Its main advantage is the range of acquisition choices backed by a perpetual, worldwide commercial license. Look elsewhere if you need multi-user rights, unrestricted redistribution, or a subscription allowance above 300 sounds per month.
