Overview

Epicor Kinetic is a manufacturing-focused ERP for companies running discrete or make-to-order production. It is best suited to manufacturers that need production, planning, supply chain, and finance in a shared system. Its broad operational scope is a strong fit for connected manufacturing, but may be excessive for a business seeking a single-purpose tool.

Key features

Kinetic combines production, scheduling, purchasing, supply chain, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger with inventory, order, and multi-entity management. Forecasting, material requirements planning, advanced planning and scheduling, and sourcing help connect production plans with material and supplier decisions. That breadth is useful when teams need operational and financial processes coordinated in one ERP.

Production data collection and IoT-enabled MES capabilities support monitoring equipment, efficiency, and quality metrics. Application Studio adds no-code and low-code configuration for interfaces and workflows, giving teams ways to adapt the system to their processes.

Integration options include REST APIs, EDI and B2B integrations, and partner connections using JSON and XML. REST services follow OData v4 and can connect with Excel and Power BI, a practical advantage for manufacturers with established data exchanges or reporting workflows.

The browser-based mobile experience uses responsive design for access across devices. Epicor’s cloud security measures include multi-factor authentication, regional disaster recovery, daily backups, monitoring, audits, data masking, and encryption. The Select cloud package adds backups retained for 30 days, in-region disaster recovery, monthly updates, and a historic 99.98% SLA. Concurrent user licenses are not tied to a named user or device, which can suit shared or shifting work patterns.

Pricing

Epicor Kinetic: custom pricing. Buyers choose a platform core, cloud package, concurrent user licenses, and industry bundles, so the final fit and cost depend on the configuration selected. Concurrent licensing offers flexibility across users and devices, but the package choices make it important to establish which capabilities and cloud services are required before comparing costs.

Platforms

Kinetic supports Android, iOS, web, Windows, API, and self-hosted environments. Its deployment is described as hybrid, with cloud also offered as a deployment option. The responsive browser experience supports device access, while the API and integration options suit organizations connecting the ERP to other systems.

Who it's for

Kinetic is aimed at manufacturers, particularly discrete and make-to-order businesses that need production planning, shop-floor monitoring, supply chain, and financial management in one platform. It is also a plausible fit for multi-entity operations and teams that need configurable workflows or established integration paths. Companies seeking only a narrow function rather than a broad ERP should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Manufacturing planning, production monitoring, supply chain, and finance share a broad ERP core, useful for coordinating operational and financial work.
Pro: OData v4 REST services, EDI, B2B, and JSON/XML partner connections provide several integration routes, including Excel and Power BI connections.
Pro: No-code and low-code configuration and concurrent licensing allow adaptation of workflows and user access patterns.
Con: Custom pricing and multiple configuration choices mean buyers need to resolve package, licensing, and feature requirements before assessing the investment.
Con: The broad manufacturing ERP scope is a poor match for organizations that need only a focused application.

Verdict

Choose Epicor Kinetic if your manufacturing business needs production, planning, supply chain, and finance in one configurable ERP, particularly for discrete or make-to-order work. Its combination of manufacturing depth and integration options is the main reason to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if you need only a focused tool or cannot first pin down the right custom-priced package and license configuration.
