Overview

Evoto brings shooting, culling, retouching, and delivery into a photography workflow, alongside separate instant-workflow and video products. Its photo editor combines portrait retouching with background and color adjustments, RAW processing, watched folders, bulk renaming and resizing, and fully automated batch processing. Exports include JPG, TIFF, PNG, and original files.

Per-face retouching is designed to smooth skin and remove blemishes while retaining natural texture. Lightroom Classic users can send individual images to Evoto and import or export catalogs, which gives photographers a route to add retouching without abandoning that workflow.

Basic color adjustments, cropping, and file management are free. Most other features cost one credit per exported image, and some advanced generative tools cost more; Evoto displays the price before use. That model makes occasional use possible without paying for every capability upfront, but high export volumes call for close attention to the credit allowance.

Most features upload images to Evoto's cloud for analysis and processing, after which the company says images are deleted immediately. Some features store data with prior consent. Evoto identifies ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 among its compliance certifications and attestations, and says customer images are not used to train AI without explicit consent. These are relevant safeguards, but photographers who require local processing should consider that most features rely on cloud processing.

Key features

Portrait retouching: Per-face skin smoothing and blemish removal aim to preserve natural texture, making the editor a focused option for portrait work rather than only general image adjustments.
Batch workflow: Watched folders and fully automated processing reduce repeated manual steps for recurring jobs. Bulk renaming and resizing also cover common file-preparation tasks.
Credit-based exports: Most features use one credit per exported image, with higher costs possible for some advanced generative tools. The displayed cost before use helps users judge a particular operation, but estimating a large job still means accounting for image count and feature choice.
Lightroom Classic connection: Sending individual images to Evoto and importing or exporting catalogs suits photographers who want to keep Lightroom in their workflow.

Pricing

Evoto offers a one-time 7-day trial with 50 credits for trying full features. Annual subscriptions pair a fixed credit allowance with a device limit, so the best fit depends on both export volume and how many devices need access.

Starter: 89.00 USD per year, billed annually, for 800 credits and 2 devices. It is the entry paid tier for a solo photographer with modest export needs.
Basic: 149.00 USD per year, billed annually, for 1,600 credits and 3 devices. Its larger allowance fits photographers whose regular work exceeds Starter's quota.
Basic Plus: 269.00 USD per year, billed annually, for 3,600 credits and 4 devices; a middle option for higher-volume work.
Standard: 579.00 USD per year, billed annually, for 9,000 credits and 5 devices. It suits substantial recurring workloads better than the smaller quotas.
Standard Plus: 1339.00 USD per year, billed annually, for 24,000 credits and 6 devices. Its larger capacity targets very high export volumes, rather than occasional editing.

Evoto also presents subscription variants with rollover credits and Asset Hub Membership: Starter Plan-800 is 80.00 USD per year for 800 credits and 2 devices; Basic Plan-1600 is 134.00 USD per year for 1,600 credits and 3 devices; Basic Plus Plan-3600 is 242.00 USD per year for 3,600 credits and 4 devices; Standard Plan-9000 is 521.00 USD per year for 9,000 credits and 5 devices; and Standard Plus Plan-24000 is 1205.00 USD per year for 24,000 credits and 6 devices. Each is billed annually, and credits roll over with the subscription. Those lower prices and rollover terms make these variants worth comparing against the corresponding tiers when rollover matters.

Pay-as-You-Go lets users purchase credits as needed; purchased credits expire after 2 years. It can suit uneven workloads, though custom pricing is not the same as a predictable annual quota. Enterprise plans are customized, with custom pricing. Free basics avoid credit charges for color adjustments, cropping, and file management, but do not replace the paid credits used by most other features.

Platforms

Evoto supports web, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Desktop downloads support macOS 10.13 and above and Windows 7, 10, and 11; mobile apps are available for iOS, Android, and iPadOS.

Who it's for

Evoto describes its photo editor as intended for professional photographers, Evoto Instant for high-volume photographers, and Evoto Video for creators and photographers moving into video. The features make the photo editor particularly relevant to portrait photographers with repeated batches, especially those already using Lightroom Classic. Photographers who export only occasionally can start with free basics or the trial, while those with sustained output should match a subscription's credit quota to their workload. Users who avoid cloud processing should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Fully automated batch processing, watched folders, and bulk file operations support repeatable, high-volume workflows.
Pro: Lightroom Classic catalog and image handoffs let existing users incorporate Evoto into an established photo workflow.
Pro: Free basic adjustments and a 50-credit, 7-day trial lower the barrier to trying the editor.
Con: Credit costs attach to most exported images, and some advanced generative tools use more than one credit, making heavy use dependent on quota planning.
Con: Most features process images in the cloud, which is a poor fit for photographers who require local-only handling.
Con: The annual plans cap both credits and device counts, so users with fluctuating volume or broader device needs may find the fixed tiers restrictive.

Verdict

Its free basics and trial make it practical to assess before committing, but photographers who need local processing or want to avoid per-export credit accounting should choose another workflow.
