Overview

Fadr combines song separation and remixing with tools for generating instruments and drum kits. It suits producers who want to move from isolating parts of a track to reshaping them in one service. The free Basic plan covers core stem and remix work; Plus is needed for expanded stems, WAV exports, plugins and API access.

Key features

Separate and remix songs

Basic separates vocals, melodies, drums and bass, and includes Remix Maker, unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets, MIDI detection and MP3 downloads. That is a substantial free toolkit for short projects, but its 10-minute song limit and narrower stem selection matter if you work with longer tracks or need isolated parts beyond those four groups.

Plus expands separation to 18 stem types, including lead and background vocals, kick, snare, piano, guitar, acoustic and electric guitar, strings, wind and other melody and drum categories. It raises the track limit to one hour and adds WAV downloads. The 200 MB maximum upload size still applies, so track length alone does not determine whether a file fits.

Generate instruments and drum kits

Siren turns words into playable instruments and provides ADSR controls and low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch filters. DrumGPT generates 16-element kits from text prompts, with pitch, volume and amplitude-envelope controls. These controls make the generators more useful for shaping results than prompt-only tools, though Fadr's core distinction remains combining them with separation and remixing.

Plugins and API

The Stems Plugin works with major DAWs and other VST3-compatible software; it is offered as VST3 for Windows and VST3/AU for Mac. Siren is also available online, as an iPhone and iPad app, and as a plugin compatible with major DAWs.

The API can separate vocals, drums, bass, melodies and instrumental, and detect MIDI, chord progressions, key and tempo. API use requires Plus, and its Create Stem Task endpoint costs US$0.05 per minute of audio. Files pass through Fadr's secure cloud storage using temporary presigned upload and download URLs.

Pricing

Fadr Basic costs 0.00 USD per free. It includes vocals, melodies, drums and bass separation, MP3 downloads, MIDI detection and Remix Maker, with unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets. It is the sensible starting point for casual remixing and shorter tracks; the trade-off is the 10-minute limit, fewer stem choices and no WAV downloads.

Fadr Plus costs 10.00 USD per month, billed $10/mo. It adds 18 stem types, one-hour uploads, WAV downloads, plugins, API access and unlimited storage. Choose it for longer material, more granular parts or DAW and API workflows. API stem tasks carry the separate US$0.05 per-minute charge.

Platforms

Fadr is available on the web and through API access, with iOS, macOS and Windows support. Siren has iPhone and iPad apps; the Stems Plugin supports Windows VST3 and Mac VST3/AU, as well as major DAWs and software that supports VST3.

Who it's for

Fadr is a good fit for remixers and producers who want free access to basic stems and DJ sets, then the option to pay for longer tracks, individual instrument groups, WAV output or DAW plugins. Its instrument and drum-kit generators add value for people developing parts alongside remix work. It is less suited to users who need a workflow without cloud file handling or whose requirements include industry-specific compliance: Fadr's terms say its service is not tailored to regulations such as HIPAA or FISMA.

Pros and cons

Pros: Basic allows unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets at no charge, so experimentation is not constrained by a stated usage quota.
Pros: Plus combines 18-way separation, one-hour tracks, WAV downloads, plugins and API access in one plan.
Pros: Siren and DrumGPT provide specific sound-shaping controls alongside text-driven generation.
Cons: Basic is limited to 10-minute songs and MP3 exports, which can rule it out for longer sessions or workflows needing WAV.
Cons: API use requires Plus and adds a US$0.05-per-minute stem-task cost.
Cons: The service is cloud-based and not tailored to sector-specific requirements such as HIPAA or FISMA.

Alternatives

AceStep AI Music Remixer is worth comparing if you prefer a credit-based model, including one-time credit purchases, rather than Fadr's monthly Plus subscription.

MeloLab AI Remix is another web-based option with a free tier and one-time credit packs; consider it if that purchase structure better suits occasional use.

MusicWave.ai offers a web-based free tier and a monthly Starter plan, making it another option for readers comparing subscription-based remix tools.

StemForge is the alternative to consider when running open-source software locally across desktop platforms matters more than Fadr's integrated remixing and generation tools.

AetherWave Music Studio is another web and API option for readers comparing music-creation services.

Mubert AI Music Remixer offers a web-based, credit-limited free tier and monthly Starter plan for readers weighing another subscription option.

RiffGen Remixer AI has a free monthly generation allowance and a paid plan with unlimited generations, so it may suit readers prioritizing that pricing structure.

AI Remix Music Generator is a web-based alternative with a free credit allowance and a monthly Starter plan.

Verdict

Choose Fadr if you want stem separation and remixing in the same place, with free unlimited core use and a clear upgrade path to finer stems, longer uploads, WAV, plugins and API access. Its strongest case is breadth across the remix workflow; look elsewhere if local processing or industry-specific compliance is essential, or if the Plus subscription and per-minute API charge do not fit your use.
