Overview

Teams create and publish guides in Nexthink’s web interface, developing guide content in Adopt Editor through the browser extension. Adopt is part of the Applications module and depends on some of that module’s core capabilities, so it makes most sense as part of a broader Nexthink setup rather than as a standalone guide tool.

Guides overlay browser-based applications with contextual instructions, process validation and self-help. Walkthroughs and tooltips can start automatically; walkthroughs and media guides can also appear in Context help. Adoption dashboards track guide duration, completion and drop-off, helping administrators see where employees engage with guidance and where they abandon it.

Key features

Guidance and targeting

Nexthink names Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow and ChatGPT among the browser-based enterprise applications Adopt supports. Workday, SAP and Salesforce connectors can import user information to improve guide targeting; Nexthink also describes using inbound connectors, including for SAP SuccessFactors, to extract attributes for guide visibility conditions. That lets teams tailor guidance to employee context, though it requires connector setup rather than relying on generic prompts for everyone.

Analytics, security and administration

Guide analytics include duration, completion and drop-off rates, providing concrete signals about whether employees finish a process. Adopt’s AI models run in AWS Bedrock in the customer’s geographic region; customer data is not used to train the models, and data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS and at rest with AES-256. Nexthink recommends administrators review and adjust AI-generated guide content before publishing because it can be inaccurate or inconsistent.

Guide actions run in the employee’s own session and on their behalf. That can make guidance operationally useful, but it also makes creation permissions a security decision: Nexthink advises restricting them to trusted users, particularly for sensitive applications. Nexthink describes its wider safeguards as including privacy practices and compliance with GDPR, CCPA and the EU AI Act.

Pricing

Nexthink Adopt: custom pricing. Adopt is a paid product, and some customers may need an additional license depending on their licensing model. Contact a Nexthink representative for pricing. The plan is a fit for organizations that can evaluate it within their existing Nexthink licensing; buyers seeking a published entry price or a free tier should compare alternatives.

Platforms

Adopt is a cloud deployment for browser-based applications. Supported operating systems include Windows, macOS, IGEL OS, Android and iOS; the product platform list also includes web and extension. Employees need the Nexthink browser extension to access published guides, and that extension is available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Firefox is not supported, which rules out Adopt for teams that require Firefox-based guidance.

Who it's for

Adopt suits IT and digital workplace teams using Nexthink who need to guide employees through enterprise web workflows and measure whether those guides are used or completed. Product tours, walkthroughs and localization support different guidance needs, while endpoint, application and network monitoring and automated remediation align it with Nexthink’s broader focus on productive workplaces. The deployment requirement and Applications-module dependency make it a weaker fit for organizations wanting a browser-neutral, standalone adoption product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Combines contextual guidance, process validation and self-help with completion and drop-off analytics, so teams can measure more than guide delivery.
Pros: Connectors can use employee attributes to target guidance in applications such as Workday, SAP and Salesforce.
Pros: AI data protections include regional AWS Bedrock processing, no use of customer data to train models, and encryption in transit and at rest.
Cons: Employees must have the Nexthink extension, and Firefox is unsupported, adding deployment work and excluding some browser environments.
Cons: An additional license may be required, and pricing is custom, complicating budget comparisons.
Cons: Administrators need to review generated content and carefully limit guide-authoring permissions, especially where actions affect sensitive applications.

Alternatives

For a free plan, Candu offers overlays, three live experiences and unlimited user licenses; its free tier is narrower than Adopt’s described guidance and analytics capabilities. VisualSP is worth considering for Microsoft 365 web apps, where its free Adopt365 plan provides predefined prompts and step-by-step answers through Chrome and Edge.

Stonly may suit a small team that can work within its Basic plan’s 400 guide views per month, five published guides, one language, 100 steps per guide and one team member. Whatfix is another paid digital adoption platform with a free plan and free trial; the supplied plan information is incomplete for a closer comparison.

Appcues or Userpilot are alternatives for buyers considering published usage-based plan limits: Appcues’ Start plan supports up to 3,000 MAUs and 10 published experiences, while Userpilot’s Starter plan is $299.00 USD per month billed /mo for up to 2,000 MAU, 10 segments and three seats. WalkMe is another paid platform with quote-based pricing. Cornerstone Learning is a paid option with organization-dependent quote pricing and no free trial.

See Digital Adoption Platforms or Digital Experience Monitoring Software for broader category choices.

Verdict

Choose Nexthink Adopt if your organization already uses Nexthink and needs browser-based employee guidance paired with adoption measurement. Its strongest case is the link between contextual help and analytics, reinforced by regional AI processing and explicit data protections. Look elsewhere if Firefox support, a standalone deployment or transparent pricing is essential.
