Overview

Hevy is a weight-lifting tracker for people who want to plan sessions, record sets and follow their progress on mobile or the web. It suits individual gym-goers who value detailed workout records and optional social accountability. Its free plan is usable but capped; Pro removes the main tracking limits and adds measurement logging and Hevy Trainer.

Key features

Logging and planning

Hevy records routines, custom exercises and session details, including warmup, drop and failure sets, rest timers and exercise notes. That makes it a stronger fit for lifters who want a structured training log than for someone seeking only a basic set counter. Programming is adaptive and the exercise library is extensive, though the free plan’s four-routine and seven-custom-exercise caps can constrain people who build a broad rotation.

Progress and community

Exercise charts, personal records, one-rep-max calculations and complete exercise history help users assess changes over time. Exercise videos add context, while Pro’s unlimited graph history is useful to lifters who rely on longer-term trends; free users retain only three months. Users can follow athletes, like and comment on workouts, save routines and share gym sessions automatically with Strava followers. Accounts are public by default, so users who prefer a quieter log should enable a private profile or limit social features in Privacy & Social settings.

Web and wearable support

The web version supports routine creation and planning, progress analysis and viewing friends’ workouts. Apple Watch and WearOS support includes workout tracking, routine syncing and offline workouts, making Hevy a practical option for people who train with either watch platform. The web and watch features extend the same training workflow rather than changing Hevy’s focus on gym lifting.

Pricing

Hevy is freemium, with a free plan and three Pro payment options. Free costs 0.00 USD per free and includes up to four routines, seven custom exercises and three months of graph history, with limited measurement tracking. That is enough for a simpler routine, but frequent routine changes or a desire for longer trend history may push users toward Pro.

PRO Monthly: 2.99 USD per month, billed monthly. Includes unlimited routines, custom exercises, graph history and measurement tracking, plus Hevy Trainer.
PRO Yearly: 23.99 USD per year, billed yearly, with the same Pro features. It suits users willing to commit annually rather than pay month to month.
PRO Lifetime: 74.99 USD per once, billed as a one-time payment, with the same Pro features. It avoids recurring billing, but makes sense chiefly for someone expecting to keep using Hevy.

Hevy Coach separately offers trainers a 30-day free trial; after it, trainers can assign programs and review client performance through Hevy. This is distinct from the individual Pro plans.

Platforms

Hevy runs on Android, iOS and the web. It also supports Apple Watch and WearOS for tracking, routine syncing and offline workouts.

Who it's for

Choose Hevy if you lift regularly and want a detailed record of sessions, progress charts and the option to share workouts with a community. It is less compelling if you need generous routine and history limits without paying, or want a private experience without changing the default social settings.

Pros and cons

Pro: Logging covers varied set types, notes, timers and custom exercises, giving structured lifters a richer record than basic workout counting.
Pro: Charts, records and one-rep-max calculations support progress review, while watch and web access extend where users can track or plan.
Pro: Pro has clearly differentiated monthly, yearly and one-time prices, with unlimited routines, custom exercises and graph history.
Con: Free users are limited to four routines, seven custom exercises and three months of graph history, which may be restrictive for evolving programs.
Con: Accounts are public by default, so privacy-conscious users need to adjust profile or social settings.

Alternatives

Fitness Workout Tracking Software is a useful place to compare other workout trackers. Consider TrainingPeaks if you want a fitness platform with a free basic athlete account and a Premium athlete plan at 19.95 USD per month, rather than Hevy’s lifting-focused routine and set tracking. Garmin Connect is another option with a free plan and a 6.99 USD per month Connect+ plan. For trainers seeking client management, My PT Hub offers a Starter plan at 22.50 USD per month, billed annually and paid monthly, with three clients, 50 workouts and 50 nutrition plans. MyFitnessPal is a better fit for food and exercise logging, recipes, measurements and partner-app connections on its free plan; its Premium monthly plan costs 19.99 USD per month. ABC Trainerize has a free Basic option for one coaching client and a Grow plan at 9.00 USD per month. Alpha Progression offers free own-plan creation, unlimited workout logging, 795 exercises with video, body measurements and data export, but excludes its plan generator, recommendations and charts. TrainHeroic is an alternative with athlete-count plans and custom pricing. wger Workout Manager is a free, open-source option for those who prioritize that model.

Verdict

Hevy is a strong choice for individual lifters who want structured logging, useful progress records and optional community features across phone, web and supported watches. Its free tier is a sound starting point, but the routine, custom-exercise and history caps are real constraints; look elsewhere if those limits or the public-by-default social setup do not fit how you train.
