Overview

InterFAX is a hosted online fax service for organizations that need to send and receive faxes through existing systems, email, or a browser. It is strongest for teams integrating fax into business workflows or distributing documents at scale. Its broad controls and API are compelling, but custom pricing and subscription-based reception make it a harder fit for occasional faxing.

Key features

InterFAX supports sending and receiving through email, its web interface, mobile devices, and scanning devices, with a virtual fax number for inbound faxing and international faxing for cross-border work. There is an important distinction for mobile users: the service describes mobile-device faxing, but has no mobile apps. Android and iOS appear in its platform listing, yet buyers who require dedicated apps should not assume they are included.

REST and SOAP APIs allow developers to connect faxing to their applications. Named integrations include Epic, Salesforce, and OncoEMR, as well as email providers, making the service better suited to organizations that need fax inside established workflows than individuals sending documents now and then. Bulk broadcasting supports up to 20,000 recipients, a substantial capacity for large distributions.

Security and compliance provisions include TLS encryption for inbound and outbound faxes, private- and public-key signature authentication, and an option to delete faxes after completion. InterFAX describes support for HIPAA, PHIPA, and PCI DSS compliance and ISO 27001 accreditation. Automated activity reporting and a full audit trail can help organizations track sent and received faxes.

Administrative controls include customizable fax headers and cover pages, granular user permissions, delivery confirmation policies, and automatic retry settings. Document-handling tools include OCR, automated data extraction and indexing, conversion, compression, and configurable workflows. Together these are useful for organizations processing faxes as part of a repeatable document operation, rather than just transmitting files.

InterFAX states that it provides round-the-clock support throughout the year, with local-language phone support experts in 58 countries. Developers can also fax free to one designated number when testing integrations.

Pricing

InterFAX is paid, with a 30-day trial and no general free plan. Pricing is on request, so buyers should confirm the cost against their expected sending and receiving volume before committing.

The Prepaid pricing package has no monthly commitment, minimum, or fee; it is the more flexible choice for irregular outbound use. Its trade-off is that the prepaid option does not promise a monthly reception allowance.

The Monthly subscription lets customers choose a rate and adjust or cancel at any time. Fax reception is subscription-based and includes a monthly page allowance, so this is the relevant option for teams that need predictable inbound faxing. The allowance and price should be checked against actual reception volume, since excess needs may change the economics.

Platforms

InterFAX lists web, API, Windows, Android, and iOS platforms. Its mobile-device faxing does not amount to dedicated mobile apps, so mobile access should be verified for the specific workflow. The hosted service requires no installation for web-connected applications.

Who it's for

InterFAX suits organizations that need inbound and outbound faxing, international reach, application integration, auditability, or high-volume broadcasting. It is especially relevant where fax must connect with systems such as Epic, Salesforce, or OncoEMR, or where document extraction and workflow tools can support ongoing processing. A small user with sporadic needs may find custom pricing and a paid reception subscription more than they need.

Pros and cons

Pros: REST and SOAP APIs, named business integrations, and email access give teams several ways to put faxing into existing operations.
Pros: Broadcasting up to 20,000 recipients, audit trails, and granular permissions serve larger or more controlled workflows.
Pros: OCR, extraction, indexing, conversion, and document workflows extend the service beyond basic fax transmission.
Cons: Pricing is on request and there is no free plan, limiting easy cost comparison for low-volume users.
Cons: Receiving faxes requires a monthly subscription, which is a meaningful ongoing cost for users who only occasionally need inbound faxing.
Cons: Despite mobile-device support and Android/iOS platform entries, there are no mobile apps.

Alternatives

Online Fax Services is the broader category to compare if you want to weigh InterFAX against other online fax products.

Choose OTG Networks vFax instead if its paid monthly service and Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows coverage better match your platform needs.

DialPhone Online Fax is an alternative if its Basic plan's annual billing, one local number per user, and 1,500-minute monthly fair-use cap suit your requirements.

Consider Dropbox Fax (formerly HelloFax) if you want a web-based free option for limited outbound faxing; its free tier allows five pages, with up to 20 more earnable, and inbound faxing requires a paid account.

ETHERFAX is another paid fax service, with cloud fax services priced on request and support for API, desktop, web, and self-hosted platforms.

FAX.PLUS may suit users who want a free tier capped at 10 total pages, or a 30-day free period on paid plans.

GTC Cloud-Fax offers web and API access, with packages for 30 or 100 pages monthly and a fax-sending credit option.

FaxTerra is worth comparing if a free allowance of 10 pages monthly to the US and Canada meets your needs.

OVHcloud Fax is an alternative paid service with web and desktop platform support.

Verdict

Choose InterFAX if your organization needs reliable workflow integration, controlled inbound and outbound faxing, or large-scale distribution, and can justify custom-priced business service. Its API, audit features, and document tools are the main reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need transparent pricing, a free entry point, or dedicated mobile apps.
