Overview

Kelsius CoolTrak365 is a wireless monitoring system for healthcare cold chains, tracking medicines and medical products from production to prescription. It is best suited to organisations that need continuous temperature oversight alongside traceable records. Its compliance-focused controls make it a strong candidate for regulated settings, provided the device’s two-area capacity and local storage buffer fit the operation.

Key features

Each device can monitor up to two separate fridges, freezers or ambient areas. It records temperatures every five minutes and transmits readings every 30 minutes over NB-IoT/LTE-M, communicating directly with the cloud. That cadence and connectivity support ongoing remote oversight, while the two-area ceiling makes a single device a better fit for a limited installation than a broad site-wide footprint.

Excursion alerts can reach staff by email, app push notification, local sounder or LED flasher; SMS is also supported at additional charge. The combination of remote notifications and on-site signals gives teams more than one route to notice a problem, but organisations that rely on SMS for escalation should account for its extra cost.

Temperature and location data are kept in tamperproof records, with aggregation and automated reporting intended to assist audits and inspections. Kelsius says CoolTrak365 supports GxP compliance, including HPRA and MHRA guidelines, and that its systems comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 11. The portal provides multifactor authentication, roles and permissions, and a complete audit trail. Kelsius also says customer data is encrypted in transit and at rest, processed and stored in the EU, and retained for more than 30 years. These controls are relevant to teams with regulatory and recordkeeping obligations, though they do not remove the need to assess fit with an organisation’s own compliance processes.

The device stores 2,880 readings locally, equivalent to 10 days at five-minute intervals. That provides a bounded local buffer; operations that need a longer period of readings held on the device should consider the limit. CoolTrak365 data can also appear in the same portal as the CoolCheck stationary monitoring system, which is useful for organisations using both systems.

Pricing

CoolTrak365 is paid, with custom pricing. SMS alerts are an additional-charge option, so buyers should clarify that cost as part of their quote. No plan tiers or seat terms are provided, so the practical buying decision is to establish the cost for the required installation and alert setup.

Platforms

CoolTrak365 is available on Android, iOS and the web. Each installation has a matching website portal for data and settings, while app push notifications provide a mobile alert channel.

Who it's for

Kelsius identifies hospitals, hospital and retail pharmacies, laboratories, medical logistics providers, nursing homes, vaccination clinics and pharmaceutical manufacturers as healthcare sectors for the solution. Its continuous monitoring and audit records suit teams responsible for medicine and medical-product storage or movement. A single device’s two-area limit is more restrictive for buyers planning to cover many separate storage areas.

Kelsius is based in Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland, and says it exports its wireless temperature-monitoring systems to more than 50 countries. Support is available Monday to Friday, 0800–1800 UK and Ireland local time; Kelsius Chat provides 24/7 technical support and reference material. The weekday hours suit teams able to raise support issues during that window, while Chat extends technical support beyond it.

Pros and cons

Pros: Five-minute readings, real-time excursion alerts and multiple alert channels give cold-chain teams ongoing visibility and more than one way to respond.
Pros: Tamperproof temperature and location records, automated reporting and stated compliance support address audit needs in regulated healthcare settings.
Pros: Kelsius states that customer data is encrypted, EU-processed and retained for more than 30 years, with multifactor authentication and role-based portal access.
Cons: A device covers at most two separate areas, which constrains how much a single unit can monitor.
Cons: Local storage is limited to 2,880 readings, described as 10 days at five-minute intervals.
Cons: SMS alerts cost extra, and the paid product has custom pricing, so buyers need a quote to assess the total cost.

Alternatives

Akurasense is worth considering for buyers seeking a free plan, which includes device and asset management, a monitor app, technical support and company user training with purchase of Akuratemp S.M.A.R.T Shippers.

Curesh may suit teams that prefer per-monitored-asset monthly pricing: its Trip Compliance plan is 9.00 EUR per month, billed €9/monitored asset/month, with 90 days of data retention, basic chain of custody and single-trip PDF reports.

Tive Platform is an alternative to consider for shipment-focused workflows; its Plus plan includes CSV shipment creation, multi-tracker shipments, branded public sharing links, ETAs with alerts and geofence alerts.

OpSense Cold Chain is another option for buyers comparing cold-chain subscriptions, with pricing by location and unlimited users, locations and oversight.

Artyc Platform is another paid option for buyers comparing cold-chain software.

Copeland Oversight360 is a paid alternative for buyers who want to request a demo.

tempmate Cloud may appeal to registered customers who already have a tempmate-GS data logger, since its cloud platform is free for them.

MoreFromFood is an alternative with custom quotes that vary by sites, users and modules, with sensor hardware potentially priced separately.

Verdict

CoolTrak365 is a strong fit for healthcare organisations that need continuous cold-chain monitoring, multiple alert routes and audit-ready temperature and location records. Its stated compliance support and long data retention are compelling reasons to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if one device must cover more than two areas, if a local buffer beyond 10 days is essential, or if SMS costs and custom pricing make budgeting difficult.
