Overview

OnWebChange lets users watch particular page elements, including prices, headlines and listings, rather than treating every page as an undifferentiated whole. It also supports pages that load content dynamically with JavaScript, online PDFs, images and text files, and login-protected content reached using custom headers. That breadth makes it useful when the change of interest is a specific detail or document, not simply whether a site responds.

Checks can run as often as every five minutes, although the free plan is limited to daily monitoring. Alerts can be sent by email, mobile notification or webhook. Pushover is the named third-party mobile notification service for Android and iOS. Translation and concise summaries of updates can help when monitoring content across languages or reviewing repeated changes.

Groups and labels, pause and resume controls, and CSV import and export provide practical ways to organize trackers. Page health checks are also supported. OnWebChange dates to 2009 and provides documentation, video tutorials, email contact and member-support enquiries.

Key features

Specific content and varied sources: Element selection, JavaScript-rendered pages, documents and login-protected pages cover more than basic page or uptime checks. Custom headers are the route for protected content, which may require configuration.
Flexible notifications: Email, mobile notifications and webhooks suit different alert workflows; Pushover is a third-party service for mobile notifications on Android and iOS.
Faster monitoring and update aids: Checks can be as frequent as every five minutes, while translation and summaries help with reviewing changes. The daily free-plan cadence is a poor match for time-sensitive alerts.
Tracker administration: Groups, labels, pausing, resuming and CSV import/export help keep a collection organized as it grows.
Privacy and rights: User data is stored at a Linode data center in London, with possible use of German data centers for availability and resilience. The privacy policy describes rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to processing and request portability.

Pricing

OnWebChange uses a freemium model, with monthly plans priced in euros. The plan choice is mainly about tracker capacity and how many people or addresses should receive notifications.

Plan	Price	Allowance	Best suited to
Free	0.00 EUR per month	3 page trackers; basic, daily monitoring	Trying the service or following a few non-urgent pages
Lite	0.89 EUR per month	10 page trackers; 3 additional notification email addresses per tracker	Small personal collections that need more trackers or shared email alerts
Standard	2.79 EUR per month	Unlimited page trackers; 20 additional notification email addresses per tracker; unlimited subscribers per tracker	Broad collections with many recipients
Turbo-50	4.99 EUR per month	50 page trackers; 20 additional notification email addresses per tracker; unlimited subscribers per tracker	Users who need higher capacity and multiple recipients, but not unlimited trackers
Turbo-100	8.99 EUR per month	100 page trackers; 20 additional notification email addresses per tracker; unlimited subscribers per tracker	Users with larger, bounded collections

The free plan is a useful low-commitment starting point, but three trackers and daily checks sharply limit its usefulness for active monitoring. Lite is inexpensive and expands the allowance to ten trackers, though it provides fewer additional email addresses per tracker than the higher plans and does not state an unlimited subscriber allowance. Standard is the clearest fit when tracker count is the priority; Turbo-50 and Turbo-100 provide fixed ceilings for users who do not need unlimited trackers. A free trial is offered. The terms also say charities helping children or working to solve the climate change crisis will not have to pay to use OnWebChange.

Platforms

OnWebChange is available on web, Android and iOS, and provides an API. The named Pushover service is a third-party option for mobile notifications on Android and iOS.

Who it's for

Choose OnWebChange if you need to monitor selected information across ordinary webpages, JavaScript-driven pages, documents or login-protected content, and want notifications beyond email. It is especially practical for a small collection that can use the low-cost Lite tier or for larger sets that benefit from tracker organization and CSV handling. Look elsewhere if three daily-checked trackers are all you can use on a free plan but you need timely alerts, or if your main requirement is service-uptime monitoring rather than content changes.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad content coverage. Selected page elements, dynamic pages, documents and protected pages make it applicable to varied monitoring tasks.
Pros: Multiple alert routes. Email, mobile notifications and webhooks can connect changes to different workflows.
Pros: Low-cost paid entry. Lite costs 0.89 EUR per month and raises capacity to ten trackers.
Cons: Tight free allowance. Three trackers and daily checks make the free plan unsuitable for many active or time-sensitive uses.
Cons: Pushover is an external dependency for the named mobile route. The service identifies it as a third-party notification provider rather than its own mobile channel.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, see Website Monitoring Software.

Visual Sentinel is another freemium option with a free plan and free trial across web, Android, iOS and API.
Distill Web Monitor is worth considering if you want browser-extension and desktop-platform options alongside web and mobile; its free plan includes 25 monitors, five cloud monitors, 1,000 cloud checks per month, two devices and 30 email alerts per month.
Dotcom-Monitor may suit users seeking target-based monitoring, with a free plan for up to 25 targets, checks as often as every five minutes, and two monitoring locations.
Downdetector is an alternative for following service outages: its free plan supports up to five favorites and up to three outage notifications per day via the Speedtest app.
HostTracker has a free plan for two monitors and two contacts, with checks every 30 minutes; it is a simpler fit for a small set of monitored targets.
Tallwatch offers a free plan with ten monitors, 60-second checks from three regions, up to three team members, a custom-domain status page, and email and Slack alerts.
WebSite-Watcher is an option for Windows, Android and iOS users; its free plan has ten bookmarks and a shortest check interval of one hour.
WebSitePulse is a paid option with a free plan and trial, and provides monitoring plans including HTTP performance.

Verdict

OnWebChange is a strong choice for individuals who need to follow changes in specific webpage elements, documents or protected content, with several ways to route alerts. Its breadth and €0.89/mo entry plan are compelling for modest collections; the daily checks and three-tracker cap on Free, and the need to move to a paid plan for greater capacity, are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
