Overview

Vodia covers routine calling—transfers, conferences, queues, hunt groups, paging and parked calls—as well as advanced routing and multiple business numbers. Auto attendants and voicemail transcription help manage incoming calls, while call-center tools add agent groups, queue login and logout, service-level measurements, callbacks and outbound dialing lists. That breadth is useful for teams with structured call handling, but may be more system than a small business needs for straightforward calling.

Cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployment options let organizations choose where the PBX runs. Vodia describes environments including Windows, Debian, CentOS and macOS, and its audience spans hosted-platform operators and businesses deploying dedicated systems. That flexibility is a meaningful advantage for organizations with infrastructure requirements; buyers seeking a simple hosted calling service may find the PBX-oriented licensing less direct.

Key features

Advanced routing, auto attendants and multiple numbers give administrators several ways to direct calls across teams. The call-center functions go beyond queues: callbacks and outbound dialing lists also support teams handling planned outbound work. These capabilities make Vodia a stronger fit for service desks and service providers than for organizations that only need basic extensions.

Vodia offers a browser client and native Windows, Android and iOS applications. Its integrations include Microsoft 365, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Cliniko and Cloudbeds, as well as OpenAI and ElevenLabs. Vodia says JavaScript-based voice agents can integrate with OpenAI, ElevenLabs and other AI platforms; that is a potential extension for organizations building voice workflows, rather than a reason on its own to choose the PBX.

Calls can be encrypted using TLS, SRTP and ZRTP, and the product overview describes automatic intrusion detection. Support is provided through US and EU offices, usually without charge unless an issue is extraordinary, alongside a public support forum. Those provisions suit organizations that value access to vendor support, though unusually demanding support needs may involve a charge.

Pricing

Vodia is paid software with custom pricing and a 60-day trial. Its plans divide by deployment model, extension capacity and included features; the prepaid options are single-tenant bundles, while usage-based licensing is postpaid and multi-tenant.

Plan	Billing and capacity	Included features
Standard	Prepaid, with annual or monthly card charges; bundles from 5 to 1,000 extensions	One auto attendant, one SIP trunk and no ACD groups
Pro	Prepaid, with annual or monthly card charges; bundles from 5 to 1,000 extensions	Up to 2 ACD groups, unlimited auto attendants and SIP trunks
Enterprise	Prepaid, with annual or monthly card charges; bundles from 5 to 1,000 extensions	Full PBX feature set, unlimited ACD groups, auto attendants and SIP trunks
Usage-based licensing	Postpaid monthly, based on the number and type of extensions used in the previous month; multi-tenant, with no predefined extension limit	Full PBX feature set
Teams SBC Licensing	Prepaid	Microsoft Teams external PSTN calling through Vodia SBC; SBC functionality only, with no PBX extensions or PBX features

Standard is the narrowest single-tenant option: it keeps capacity in fixed bundles and limits customers to one trunk and attendant, with no ACD groups. Pro adds ACD groups and removes the attendant and trunk caps, but limits ACD groups to two. Enterprise is the better match when a business needs the full feature set or more ACD groups. Usage-based licensing avoids a predefined extension cap and is designed for multi-tenant operation, but monthly charges follow the previous month's extension mix. Teams SBC Licensing is for Teams PSTN connectivity, not a replacement for a PBX plan. All plans have custom pricing, so buyers should request a quote for their intended setup.

Platforms

Vodia supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, web and self-hosted environments, and exposes an API. The choice of browser, mobile and desktop clients, combined with cloud, on-premise or hybrid deployment, gives organizations options for both users and infrastructure. Buyers should distinguish platform support from plan capacity: prepaid bundles still cap extensions at 1,000, while usage-based licensing has no predefined extension limit.

Who it's for

Vodia is a natural fit for service providers and partners operating hosted, multi-tenant PBX platforms, particularly those that need a postpaid model without a predefined extension ceiling. Businesses running dedicated systems can instead consider the single-tenant prepaid plans and choose capacity and call-center features to match their operation. It is less compelling for a small team that wants uncomplicated calling without the overhead of PBX and call-center choices.

Pros and cons

Pro: Cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployment support gives organizations a choice of operating model.
Pro: Call-center tools include callbacks, service-level measurements and outbound dialing lists, not just incoming queues.
Pro: Usage-based licensing combines multi-tenant operation with no predefined extension limit.
Con: Prepaid plans use fixed bundles of 5 to 1,000 extensions, which may not align with a customer's exact scale.
Con: Standard has only one SIP trunk and one auto attendant and no ACD groups; Pro allows only two ACD groups.
Con: Plan prices are custom, so buyers need a quote to compare the models on cost.

Alternatives

Consider Microsoft Teams if a free plan is a priority: Teams Free is free and includes 100 participants, 60-minute group meetings and 5 GB of cloud storage. Choose it for those meeting and storage allowances rather than Vodia's PBX licensing structure.

VitalPBX is worth comparing for buyers who want a freemium PBX: its Community plan is free and includes 12 extensions and 2 VitXi WebRTC clients. 3CX also has a free option, with its 4SC Basic Free plan at no cost for 10 users and 4 simultaneous calls; its license must be manually renewed each year.

Talkroute is another paid alternative with a free trial, while Zoom Phone offers metered calling starting at 10.00 USD per month. PortSIP PBX has a free edition for up to 2 simultaneous calls and 3 extensions. Dialpad Connect is a paid alternative with a free trial and a Standard plan that includes calling, messaging, meetings and business phone features, plus one local virtual number per user. Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition is another paid alternative with a free trial.

Verdict

Vodia PBX is a strong candidate for service providers building hosted multi-tenant systems and businesses that need call-center functions with a choice of cloud, on-premise or hybrid deployment. Its main advantage is the combination of deployment flexibility and a broad PBX feature set, including a no-predefined-limit usage-based option. Look elsewhere if you need a published price or a simpler service, and check the prepaid extension and ACD-group limits before choosing a plan.
