Overview

Each generation produces two options and automatically handles text, faces, and color. You can then request headline, color, or layout changes in plain English, avoiding a separate design workflow. The trade-off is that both generation and editing consume credits, and the amount depends on the work involved.

Thumblore supports 16:9 and 9:16 outputs, including YouTube, Shorts, Stories, and Reels formats. You can create or upload faces, save them for reuse, and place multiple saved avatars in a thumbnail. Users own generated outputs and may use them commercially, subject to applicable law and underlying model-provider rights.

Key features

Generation and editing

Two options per generation give you a choice of starting points rather than a single result. Chat editing is useful when you can describe the change you want but do not want to make it manually. Because editing also spends credits, extensive revisions can reduce the number of thumbnails a plan delivers; the app shows the cost before you confirm each action.

Reusable avatars and formats

Saved faces suit creators who want recurring people or characters across a channel’s thumbnails. Multiple avatars in one image add flexibility, but the number of saved and AI-generated avatars varies by plan. Support for both aspect ratios makes the same service relevant to long-form video and vertical social posts.

Privacy and support

Thumblore says it does not sell personal data or use prompts or outputs to train foundation models. Its stated security measures include TLS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access, and database row-level security. Support is available through the contact page and at support@thumblore.com.

Pricing

Thumblore is freemium. New accounts receive 100 credits once at signup without a payment card, enough for approximately five thumbnails. That is a useful trial, but it is a one-time allowance rather than a continuing free quota; free exports carry a Thumblore badge.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	100 signup credits (approximately 5 thumbnails), 1 saved avatar, badge-marked exports, and plain-English editing.
Starter	9.00 USD per month	700 credits per month (approximately 40 thumbnails), up to 10 saved avatars, 3 AI-generated avatars per month, Story/Short/Reel formats, no watermark, and HD exports.
Pro	24.00 USD per month	2,000 credits per month (approximately 120 thumbnails), unlimited saved avatars, 20 AI-generated avatars per month, avatar swap, and pop-out in the editor.
Studio	45.00 USD per month	4,200 credits per month (approximately 240 thumbnails), unlimited avatars and AI generations, and the shortest wait on every generation.

The Starter, Pro, and Studio prices are billed at $9/mo (was $10), $24/mo (was $30), and $45/mo (was $75), respectively. Starter is the practical step up for creators who need clean exports and vertical formats but can work within 700 monthly credits and 10 saved avatars. Pro suits heavier publishing or a larger roster of recurring faces; Studio adds more monthly credits, unlimited AI generations, and the shortest waits for studios that prioritize volume. The approximate thumbnail counts are not fixed quotas: generation and editing costs vary with the work, so revision-heavy use may consume credits faster. The paid-from figure is $10/mo, while Starter is $9 per month; compare the plan price and the cost shown before confirming actions.

Platforms

Thumblore runs on the web. Its supported output destinations include YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, and YouTube Community posts. It also offers a brand kit and batch resizing, which can help maintain consistency and adapt assets across destinations.

Who it's for

Thumblore makes most sense for creators who publish often, want a repeatable visual identity, and prefer to describe edits rather than work directly in a design tool. The saved-avatar system and multiple output formats are especially relevant to channels that reuse faces across long and vertical video. Occasional users can test the process with the signup credits, but the badge on free exports and lack of recurring free credits make Free a limited publishing plan.

It is a weaker fit if you need predictable per-image spending: variable generation and edit costs make the plan’s thumbnail estimates approximate. Creators who need more control over each credit charge should check the displayed cost before confirming work.

Pros and cons

Pros: Two options per generation and plain-English editing provide a quick route from topic to refinements without requiring design skills.
Pros: Reusable avatars, including multiple faces in one thumbnail, support a consistent look across repeated publishing.
Pros: 16:9 and 9:16 formats, HD exports on Starter, and no watermark on paid plans cover common video and social needs.
Cons: Credits are spent on both generation and editing, and variable costs make monthly thumbnail estimates uncertain.
Cons: The free signup balance is one-time, and free exports carry a badge, limiting its usefulness for ongoing public publishing.

Alternatives

Consider ThumbPocket if a free editor and pay-as-you-go credits suit you better: its top-up costs 9.99 EUR once for 120 credits, with one credit per AI generation. Choose Thumbsmith if daily four-up previews, templates, and saved projects matter; its free plan includes watermarked previews and three starter HQ credits.

ThumbGen is worth comparing if a one-time free allotment, reference images, or output up to 4K is a priority: its free plan provides 150 credits and up to 18 thumbnails. Thumbmagic is another freemium option with a free trial; its Starter plan is priced at 17.00 USD per month billed yearly and includes 100 thumbnails per month and one avatar.

CTRpilot suits buyers willing to pay once rather than subscribe: its 19.00 USD one-time Starter includes 100 credits, 20 thumbnails, six tools, character face-lock, watermark-free output, a commercial license, and credits that never expire. For a low-cost monthly paid option, Thumix has a 1.99 USD per month Try plan with 20 credits, approximately 10 images, and commercial use.

Choose Pixado if you need API access as well as web access, and Stickythumb if its 50-generation Creator plan and 30-day thumbnail history suit your workflow.

Verdict

Thumblore is a good choice for recurring creators who want two thumbnail directions, conversational refinements, and reusable faces across video formats. Its one-time free credits make it easy to assess the workflow, and Starter removes the badge while adding HD exports. Look elsewhere if fixed per-thumbnail costs matter more than chat editing and avatar reuse: credit use varies, and the plan counts are estimates rather than guaranteed output totals.
