Overview

Qualaroo is a customer-feedback platform for teams that want to ask questions in websites and apps and connect answers with user behavior. It suits product and conversion teams that need contextual feedback across web and mobile; its main trade-off is that response storage is not encrypted.

Founded as KISSinsights in 2010, Qualaroo became part of ProProfs in February 2020. The company is headquartered in Santa Monica, California.

Key features

Qualaroo’s in-context surveys, called Nudges, support targeting, triggers, branching logic, branding, more than 10 question types, and 100+ languages. That combination lets teams tailor questions to a particular page or app moment instead of relying only on generic forms. NPS surveys are supported too.

Heatmaps and session recordings show clicks, scrolling, and drop-off behavior alongside feedback. These views can help teams investigate where users struggle, while IBM Watson sentiment analysis, word clouds, and reporting help organize free-text responses. Together, the behavior tools and survey analysis make Qualaroo a stronger fit for teams seeking both contextual input and clues about user actions than for those needing surveys alone.

iOS and Android SDKs support in-app feedback. Listed integrations include Salesforce, Tableau, Intercom, Zapier, Slack, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, and webhooks. Enterprise adds roles and permissions, organization-wide collaboration, SAML SSO, and an API with callbacks and webhooks.

Qualaroo says its customer data and dashboard are hosted on AWS EC2 in Virginia, dashboard access uses HTTPS, and passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Survey responses are not encrypted in storage; access is restricted through AWS Security Groups. That is a material drawback for organizations whose policies require encrypted stored responses.

Support includes 24/7 live chat, weekday phone support from 8 AM to 6 PM EST, email responses within one business day, and a help center.

Pricing

Qualaroo has a free plan, paid plans, and a 14-day trial that includes Essentials and Premium features. CSV response downloads and branding suppression require a paid plan, so the trial does not establish whether those capabilities fit a free-plan workflow.

Plan	Price and terms	What it includes
Free	Free	50 responses, 500 email sends, and 10k pageviews. The response cap makes this best for small-scale evaluation or low-volume collection.
Essentials	39.99 USD per month, billed monthly	1,000 email sends per month and unlimited responses. It suits teams that need more response capacity but do not need the Business pageview allowance.
Business	99.99 USD per month, billed monthly	5,000 email sends per month, 100,000 pageviews per month, and unlimited responses. The higher allowance fits broader survey distribution across sites.
Enterprise	1798.88 USD per year, annual plans only	Custom pageviews, custom email sends, unlimited responses, and unlimited users. Its user allowance and enterprise access controls are suited to organization-wide deployment.

Essentials and Business both cap email sends, while Free also caps responses and pageviews. Enterprise removes the user limit and makes pageview and send capacity custom. Check those quotas, plus paid-plan requirements for CSV downloads and branding suppression, against expected use before choosing.

Platforms

Qualaroo supports web, iOS, Android, and API. Its mobile SDKs provide in-app feedback on iOS and Android.

Who it's for

Qualaroo is a good fit for teams investigating website or app experience, gathering product feedback, or probing conversion issues with targeted questions and behavior context. It is less suitable when encrypted response storage is mandatory, or when a small team needs CSV downloads or suppressed branding without moving to a paid plan.

Pros and cons

Pro: Targeting, triggers, branching, and broad language support let teams adapt surveys to context and audience.
Pro: Heatmaps, session recordings, and free-text analysis sit alongside feedback, giving teams multiple ways to investigate user friction.
Pro: A free plan and 14-day feature trial lower the barrier to evaluating the survey workflow.
Con: Free is limited to 50 responses, 500 email sends, and 10k pageviews; CSV downloads and branding suppression require a paid plan.
Con: Survey responses are not encrypted in storage, a concern for teams with strict data-protection requirements.

Alternatives

Choose Beamer if its free tier’s 1,000 MAUs, one teammate, one language, and watermark fit better; its NPS add-on is 99.00 USD per month.

Pendo Analytics may suit teams that want product analytics and in-app guides in a free tier for 500 monthly active users, rather than Qualaroo’s capped response-and-pageview offer.

Refiner is another freemium survey option; its free plan allows 25 survey responses per month.

Doorbell.io offers a free plan for up to two team members and one application, with unlimited feedback and replies.

Hively offers unlimited ratings and up to three users on its free plan, which may suit teams focused on ratings.

Userback may fit teams that value unlimited feedback collection on a free plan, provided two seats, two projects, and seven-day feedback availability are enough.

Featurebase offers unlimited conversations and feedback on its free plan, with one seat and no AI support.

Productboard is an alternative to consider for product feedback workflows.

Verdict

Choose Qualaroo if your team needs targeted web and app surveys tied to behavior views and tools for interpreting open-text feedback. Its breadth is useful for product and conversion investigations, but the free tier’s quotas and paid-only exports and branding suppression can constrain adoption, while unencrypted response storage rules it out for some security requirements.
