Overview

Zoho Assist brings remote support and unattended device access together with browser-based customer guidance. It is best suited to support and IT teams that need several ways to help users across desktop and mobile devices. Its broad toolkit is a strength, but the free tier is tightly capped and the entry price covers only one technician.

Key features

Technicians can provide attended or on-demand support, or access configured devices unattended. Screen sharing, multi-monitor navigation, chat, session scheduling, file transfer, and diagnostics cover the central work of a remote support session. On-demand sessions can start without a prior download, and technicians do not need an installation to initiate them; that makes Assist a practical option when a user needs help before they have set up client software.

For visual guidance beyond screen sharing, remote camera sharing supports augmented-reality assistance through smartphone cameras or smartglasses. Browser cobrowse adds real-time guidance without downloads or plugins, with field highlighting and sensitive-data masking. These tools make Assist more relevant to customer-facing guidance than a service focused only on remote device access.

File transfer and session recording are supported capabilities, but their availability depends on the plan. Higher plans add departments, group permissions, bulk deployment, custom reports, and session audits. Integrations span Zoho tools, popular third-party tools, and Zendesk. Security uses TLS 1.2 and AES 256-bit encryption, with transmissions through SSL and AES protocols; recurring audits cover applications, infrastructure, and internal policies.

Pricing

The free plan is free and allows 1 technician and 5 devices. That is enough to assess a small setup, but the technician and device caps make it a poor fit for a growing support operation. The 15-day trial offers a short window to evaluate paid service before committing.

Remote Support - Standard costs 10.00 USD per month (billed annually) and allows 2 concurrent sessions per technician. It is the clearest entry point for a team that needs paid remote support, though the concurrency limit matters when one technician must handle several sessions at once. Remote Support - Professional allows 4 concurrent sessions per technician, and Remote Support - Enterprise allows 6; both have custom pricing. Enterprise adds departments and session recording in the monthly plan structure, while Professional adds mobile device support over Standard. These tiers suit teams that need more session capacity or higher-level administration, but custom pricing makes cost comparison less direct.

For unattended access, the Standard and Professional plans have custom pricing. Standard adds unlimited technicians to configured devices; Professional builds on it with session recording and mobile and IoT device support. Monthly remote support tiers are also described for customer support teams: Standard includes Free Edition features plus file transfer and 2 concurrent sessions; Professional adds mobile device support and 4 concurrent sessions; Enterprise adds departments and session recording. Monthly unattended tiers target IT teams, with Professional adding recording and mobile and IoT support. Zoho Assist plans are pay-as-you-go and can be upgraded, downgraded, or canceled at any time, which gives teams room to adjust without a fixed long-term commitment.

Platforms

Zoho Assist supports Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Raspberry Pi, and web browsers. Mobile apps are available, broadening its use beyond desktop support. That range is a good match for mixed-device environments, though platform coverage alone does not establish that every feature works identically on every system.

Who it's for

Assist is a strong fit for customer support teams that need no-download browser guidance alongside remote sessions, and for IT teams that need unattended access across configured devices. Its camera guidance and cobrowse tools are useful differentiators when an agent must direct a user through a task rather than simply take control of a computer. A solo technician or very small team can start with the free tier, but its five-device cap is limiting; larger teams should weigh the custom-priced tiers against their need for concurrency, recording, and administration.

Pros and cons

Flexible support modes: Attended, on-demand, and unattended access cover both live assistance and routine device access.
Useful visual guidance: Camera sharing and plugin-free cobrowse add options for helping customers who need step-by-step direction.
Broad platform reach: Support for desktop, mobile, browser, Chrome OS, and Raspberry Pi accommodates varied environments.
Small free allowance: One technician and five devices make the free plan a limited starting point for teams.
Key prices are custom: Professional and Enterprise support tiers and both unattended plans require a pricing conversation, complicating budget comparisons.

Alternatives

TeamViewer Remote is another freemium choice with a free plan for personal, non-commercial use; consider it when that use restriction matches your needs. ManageEngine Remote Access Plus offers a free plan for 10 devices, making it worth considering if that device allowance better suits a small setup. RustDesk offers an open-source free plan with online status and community support, a distinct starting point for readers seeking those terms.

DWService has a free plan capped at 6 Mbps maximum bandwidth, a relevant trade-off for readers weighing bandwidth limits. Matrix42 FastViewer is a paid option at 540.00 EUR per year per concurrent session, plus 19% VAT; its stated per-session pricing may suit buyers budgeting around concurrent sessions.

Splashtop offers a Solo plan at 6.00 USD per month, billed annually at 72 USD, for one licensed user and up to two computers; it may suit an individual prioritizing a lower stated annual-billed price. Getscreen.me is another freemium option, with a free plan for 2 devices, 50 MB per file, and 1 seat.

Verdict

Choose Zoho Assist if your team needs remote support, unattended access, and browser-based guidance in one service, especially if camera assistance or cobrowse matters. Its broad session tools and flexible plan changes make it adaptable, but the free plan's five-device cap and custom pricing on several paid tiers are reasons to look elsewhere if predictable costs or a larger no-cost allowance matter more.
