Overview

Veterical brings appointments, client and animal records, clinical notes, billing, payments, inventory and reporting into a shared practice workspace. That breadth makes it a stronger fit for clinics seeking to connect operational and clinical work than for those looking only for an appointment calendar.

Key features

Animal records can hold medical histories, vaccinations, allergies, treatments, prescriptions and clinical notes. Species-aware patient information and weight-based treatment workflows tailor the clinical side to veterinary practice. Teams can create estimates and invoices, record payments, and monitor medication and supply inventory as part of the patient workflow.

The calendar coordinates veterinarians, rooms and procedures. Clinics can accept online bookings against real-time availability, with confirmations and reminders; automatic reminders also support appointment follow-through. This joined-up scheduling is useful when a clinic wants booking connected to its day-to-day operations, though it may be more scope than a practice needs if scheduling is its only concern.

One account can support multiple clinic locations, staff, veterinarians, rooms and schedules, with role-based access. Clinics can import client and animal data, and the support team can help plan migration from spreadsheets or another practice system. These features reduce the burden of moving records and support more complex teams.

The REST API covers clients, patients, appointments, invoices, payments and vaccinations, with keys scoped to a clinic. Keys have scopes and per-key rate limits, new keys begin read-only, and signed webhooks are documented. A hosted OAuth 2.0 MCP connector is also available, but it is read-only and limited to administrative data: it cannot access animal or owner records or clinical notes.

The maker says the service provides cloud access on desktop, tablet and mobile and supports 96 languages. Its privacy policy describes secured networks with limited access, SSL encryption for sensitive or credit information, and card transactions handled by an external PCI-compliant gateway. It also states that the maker does not use vulnerability scanning or malware scanning, a material concern for clinics assessing security requirements.

Pricing

Veterical uses a freemium model and offers a Free plan at 0.00 USD per free. No usage caps or seat limits are stated for that plan, so it is not possible to assess how its free access scales as a clinic grows. The available pricing facts do not establish paid-plan prices or terms; any paid plan should be treated as custom pricing.

Platforms

Veterical is available on the web and has listed downloads for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. The mobile apps are for iOS and Android. API access is also supported.

Who it's for

Veterical is best suited to veterinary clinics that want clinical records, scheduling, online booking and practice administration under one account, especially those operating across multiple locations. Clinics migrating from spreadsheets or another system may value the import support. A practice that needs only booking may prefer a narrower tool, while clinics with strict security requirements should evaluate the scanning limitation before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros: Clinical records, weight-based workflows, scheduling, billing and inventory are connected in one practice workspace, reducing the need to separate these tasks across tools.
Pros: Multi-clinic access with role-based controls supports teams with several locations, staff and schedules.
Pros: Data import and migration planning support can help clinics move existing client and animal records.
Cons: The privacy policy says vulnerability and malware scanning are not used, a significant drawback for security-conscious clinics.
Cons: The free plan's scaling limits and paid-plan terms are unclear, making it harder to judge long-term fit and cost.

Alternatives

For a narrower scheduling comparison, see Veterinary Appointment Scheduling Software. SchedulingKit is a freemium booking option with a free tier capped at one team member, one event type and 50 bookings per month; choose it when those limits suit a simpler booking need.

Vetilog offers a Discovery tier capped at 100 animals, one user and 100 Mo of documents or photos, so it may suit a small practice evaluating a bounded free tier. AllEars.Vet limits its free plan to 10 consultations, 20 patients, 150 chat messages and 10 prescriptions per month, with live suggestions for the first two minutes; choose it if those consultation and messaging limits match your needs.

EasyWeek for Veterinary Clinics offers essential features and basic booking on its free-forever plan, with Pro at 8.33 USD per month; it is a fit when basic booking is the priority. NaVetor offers full feature access at no charge when using Patterson payment services, subject to transaction-volume eligibility, making it worth considering if that payment arrangement suits your clinic.

Bookerva has a free Starter tier capped at 50 bookings per month, one staff member and one location, with a branded booking page and email reminders; choose it for a small booking-focused operation within those limits. OpenVPM offers self-hosted software under AGPLv3, but requires the operator to manage infrastructure, database, backups, email, messaging and model providers; it suits teams prepared to take on that operational work.

Digitail is a paid alternative with a Mobile plan covering cloud-based SOAP records, scheduling and online booking, inventory, billing, payments and 40+ integrations; consider it when those capabilities and integrations align with your needs.

Verdict

Choose Veterical if your clinic wants clinical records and practice administration in one system, with online booking and multi-location support. Its breadth and migration support are compelling for coordinated clinic operations. Look elsewhere if vulnerability and malware scanning are essential to your security requirements, or if you need clearer cost and plan limits before choosing.
