For AI music on a long flight, Murmur is the clearest fit in the available options: it generates instrumental tracks on an iPhone and can work offline after its model is downloaded. The key preparation is to download the model before boarding; the available details do not establish whether that download can be completed without internet access.
What Long-Flight Music Needs
Music for a long flight should be easy to keep playing, suit the mood you want, and avoid demanding constant attention. For making tracks while offline, the critical detail is that Murmur’s on-device generation works after a model download. Its fixed-length free tracks may suit short pieces, while the Pro plan supports unlimited length. The available details do not specify track duration, battery use, or how much storage the model needs, so check those before relying on it for a long trip.

Best AI Music Option For Long Flights
1. Murmur — Best For Offline Instrumental Tracks On iPhone
Murmur is an iPhone music generator focused on instrumental music. It offers text prompts and curated styles, with on-device generation after the model is downloaded. That makes it a practical fit for creating instrumental ideas in airplane mode, provided you prepare the app beforehand. It is iOS-only, so it is not an option for Android phones or laptops.
For a relaxed cabin mood, try a prompt such as “soft ambient instrumental for a quiet overnight flight, gentle pulse, warm pads, no vocals, slow changes.” For something a little more rhythmic, try “calm instrumental for reading on a plane, light percussion, mellow bass, steady energy, no vocals.” These are prompt suggestions, not confirmed presets or guaranteed musical results. Murmur supports text prompts and styles, but the available details do not establish specific genres, controls for musical transitions, or a dedicated long-flight mode; check the app for those specifics.

- Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling: 2 internal and 2 external mics work in tandem to detect external noise and effectively reduce up to 90% of it, no matter in trains or offices.
- Immerse Yourself in Detailed Audio: The noise cancelling headphones have oversized 40mm dynamic drivers that produce detailed sound and thumping beats with BassUp technology for your every travel, commuting and gaming. Compatible with Hi-Res certified audio via the AUX cable for more detail.
- 40-Hour Long Battery Life and Fast Charging: With 40 hours of battery life with ANC on and 60 hours in normal mode, you can commute in peace with your Bluetooth headphones without thinking about recharging. Fast charge for 5 mins to get an extra 4 hours of music listening for daily users.
- Dual-Connections: Connect to two devices simultaneously with Bluetooth 5.0 and instantly switch between them. Whether you're working on your laptop, or need to take a phone call, audio from your Bluetooth headphones will automatically play from the device you need to hear from.
- App for EQ Customization: Download the soundcore app to tailor your sound using the customizable EQ, with 22 presets, or adjust it yourself. You can also switch between 3 modes: ANC, Normal, and Transparency, and relax with white noise.
The free plan is free to download, has no subscription, and provides core presets with unlimited generations at a fixed track length. Murmur Pro is a one-time €14.99 purchase, according to Murmur, and adds unlimited length, all 170+ presets, and custom scene prompts. Live sessions run for a few minutes; Murmur says real-time generation heats the iPhone and thermal protection can slow the engine. For a long flight, make tracks in shorter sessions and let the phone cool if it becomes warm.
Murmur describes its generated instrumental loops as original and copyright-free and says they are royalty-free for commercial edits. If you plan to use a track in a video or other project, check Murmur’s current terms for the exact use. This workflow is instrumental, so it avoids choosing or cloning a voice; get consent for any voice or sample you add yourself, and check the relevant platform’s terms.
