Updated

Choosing sounds for a session starts with the role an instrument can fill. These virtual instruments can be compared by instrument focus, built-in samples and included presets, while plugin formats and standalone app availability help you check compatibility with your setup. MPE support is another listed feature to weigh for performance. Free-plan availability and paid-from pricing provide cost context. Vital, Dexed and IK Multimedia ReSing are among the entries, alongside Pianoteq and BBC Symphony Orchestra. Compare the stated sound resources and formats with the way you compose, play or arrange, rather than assuming every instrument serves the same musical purpose.
