People make AI music by giving a music generator a starting point—such as a text prompt, lyrics, an instrumental brief, an uploaded track, or a performed sketch—then shaping the result through revisions and exporting it for further use. The starting point determines the workflow: a song idea needs decisions about lyrics and vocals, while a beat or instrumental needs direction on sound and arrangement.

Choose What You Want To Make

Before opening a generator, decide what the output needs to do. A complete song, a beat to write over, and a new part built from an existing recording call for different inputs. The examples below describe workflows supported by the listed products; availability of particular controls can vary, so check each product’s current details.

Starting Point Useful Direction To Provide Supported Workflow Examples
A song idea Describe the subject, mood, genre, vocal or instrumental intent, and any sound or arrangement details that matter. Suno generates songs with vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, and production. Eleven Music lets creators set genre, mood, instruments, and structure.
Lyrics or a rhythmic sketch Bring draft lyrics, a flow, or a performed sketch if the workflow supports it; identify lines or rhythmic details to preserve. SongIntent accepts ideas, lyrics, flows, beats, or melodies and supports revisions. Its cadence-capture workflow turns a performed sketch into lyric options with timing and beat landmarks.
An instrumental or beat Describe the intended mood, tempo, genre, and musical role—for example, a beat to write over or background music. Soundverse AI Beat Maker supports instrumental generation with controls for tempo, key, and mood. Loudly supports prompts, moods, or song formulas, with controls including genre, BPM, key, and structure.
An existing recording Use audio you have permission to use, then give a clear direction for the new take or changed section. Aiode generates from uploaded tracks or projects and supports section-level control and multiple takes. Suno supports audio uploads, editing, remixing, and extensions.
A part for a DAW project Describe the musical part you need, then edit the generated notes in the project. Aether turns plain-language descriptions into editable MIDI in named layers for use in a DAW.

Build A Track In Iterations

A useful session is a sequence of specific decisions, not a search for one perfect prompt. Start with the musical job, listen for what the result gets right, then revise one thing at a time. The exact controls depend on the product.

  1. Write a short brief. State whether you need a full song, lyrics, a vocal idea, an instrumental, or a part for an existing project. Add only the details that affect the result, such as mood, genre, tempo, instruments, or structure.
  2. Choose the input that matches the brief. Use text for a concept, lyrics when words matter, or a beat, melody, or audio reference when the product accepts those inputs. SongIntent, for example, accepts ideas, lyrics, flows, beats, and melodies; Aiode works from uploaded audio.
  3. Generate a first version and listen for a specific issue. Decide whether the lyric, rhythm, arrangement, or sound needs work. Avoid changing several goals at once, so you can tell what the next revision is meant to fix.
  4. Revise the part that needs attention. Depending on the product, this might mean rewriting a lyric line, regenerating a selected section, changing a structure or genre direction, or making another take. Eleven Music supports section regeneration and inpainting; Suno supports section replacement and extensions.
  5. Export for the next step. Keep the format and components you need. Soundverse AI Beat Maker lists WAV mixes, separated stems, and MIDI; Loudly lists WAV, MP3, stems, and samples. Check the product’s current export options before building a workflow around a particular format.

Pick A Workflow That Fits Your Starting Point

When You Have A Song Idea But No Draft

Give the generator a compact brief: the song’s subject, mood, broad style, whether it should have vocals, and a structural direction if that matters. Suno generates complete songs with vocals and lyrics; Eleven Music offers controls for genre, mood, instruments, and structure. Treat the first output as a proposal to edit, not as evidence that every detail of the brief will be followed exactly.

When The Words Or Flow Matter

Bring lyrics or a rhythmic sketch and work from the lines that matter most. SongIntent supports lyric and line-level revisions, as well as cadence capture from a performed sketch. Eleven Music supports lyrics, vocals, and section editing. If the product does not establish support for a language, vocal style, or specific genre you need, check its site before relying on it.

When You Need A Beat Or Instrumental

Describe the track’s role as well as its sound: for example, “a restrained instrumental for a spoken introduction” or “a beat to write over,” followed by the desired mood, tempo, and broad genre. Soundverse AI Beat Maker is focused on full instrumentals and offers tempo, key, and mood controls; Loudly offers structured generation controls including BPM, key, and song structure. These examples show the kinds of directions the products document, not a guarantee of a particular result.

When You Already Have Audio Or A Project

Start with a recording you are allowed to use, state what you want to change, and make new takes or section edits. Aiode is built around uploaded tracks and projects, with section-level control, multiple takes, and stems for continued work. Suno also lists audio upload, remixing, extensions, and section replacement. Check the specific product’s supported inputs and limits before choosing this route.

When You Want Notes You Can Edit

If the goal is a musical part inside a DAW project, generating MIDI can be more useful than receiving only a finished audio file. Aether describes a workflow that creates editable MIDI in named layers from a plain-language description. Check its site for current system requirements and compatibility details before purchase.

What To Check Before Sharing Or Releasing A Track

Rights depend on what went into the track and on the terms of the product and plan. Use lyrics, recordings, samples, and voice references only when you have permission to use them; check the relevant platform terms for generated voices, covers, uploaded material, and commercial use. Commercial rights are not uniform: Eleven Music says they vary by subscription tier and excludes film, TV, and studio games; Suno’s directory entry says its Free Plan does not include commercial rights; Soundverse lists a commercial license for releasing and monetizing tracks. Read the current terms for your exact use before publishing.

Applicants registering a work with more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human author’s contribution. Keep The Human Decisions Visible

Save the lyrics, edits, arrangement choices, and other work you contribute, along with the exported version you intend to use. The generator can supply a draft, performance, or set of notes; choosing what to keep and shaping the track around your purpose remains part of the creative process. For product-specific rights, export formats, platform support, or language coverage not established here, check the vendor’s current site.
