Overview
Open Burning Suite is a free desktop application for burning, copying, creating and verifying CD, DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray discs. It runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, with an interface built using .NET 8 and Avalonia UI. It communicates with optical drives through native SCSI/MMC commands rather than external disc-operation tools. The suite reads and creates image formats including ISO, BIN/CUE, CCD/IMG/SUB, NRG, MDF/MDS and CDI. Audio features include CD-TEXT authoring, track ripping to WAV or BIN/CUE, and playlist importing. Video capabilities cover DVD-Video, Blu-ray BDMV, BDAV and Blu-ray 3D, plus FFmpeg-based transcoding; FFmpeg is an optional runtime dependency for video authoring. Verification supports CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 checksums. Gaming presets cover several console families, while Nintendo DS/3DS support is limited to verification. Images can use AES-256-CBC password protection, and PS3 decryption supports IRD, dkey or hex keys. Burning, reading and verification require an optical drive.
Who it is for
It suits people who need a free cross-platform tool for optical-disc authoring, copying or verification. Its features also cover users working with disc images, audio CDs or supported Blu-ray video formats.
