What it is
Photobooth-App is free, open-source software for building a DIY photo booth for weddings, birthdays, and other events. It captures still photos, collages, animated GIFs, boomerangs, videos, and 3D wigglegrams; captured images can also be given frames or text, or have backgrounds removed or replaced with an AI algorithm. The wigglegram feature, made with a synchronized camera array, is still in development. Camera options include DSLR cameras through gphoto2 on Linux, Raspberry Pi camera modules through picamera2, and USB webcams. Two cameras can run at once, for example with one taking stills and another providing live preview or video. QR codes can link to online media or serve it on a local network; online downloads require the files to be publicly accessible. An rclone-based synchronizer can upload files to supported storage providers, including FTP and Nextcloud. Other features include a live event gallery, configurable printing commands, WLED and Raspberry Pi GPIO triggers, and a REST API for capture and status requests. Its GitHub page identifies the license as MIT.
