Tallyfor TaxCalc

What it is
Tallyfor TaxCalc is web-based tax planning software for CPA firms. It models projections and estimated payments during the year rather than preparing or filing tax returns. The calculator works through federal Form 1040 line by line and state income tax for all 50 states and DC, including multi-state and part-year residency, for tax years through 2026. Users can compare scenarios such as S-corp elections, Roth conversions, retirement contributions and charitable timing. TaxCalc recommends federal and state quarterly payments with safe-harbor logic, tracks payments and flags catch-ups. It produces Excel reports covering tax plans, payment analysis and state returns. Data can come from schedule cards, uploaded prior-year 1040s and W-2s, IRS transcripts and linked K-1s. It connects QuickBooks Online and Xero and exports files to CCH Axcess, Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect and UltraTax. The base plan costs $1,000 a year for 25 binders; a free trial is offered.
