| File size limit | The homepage limits the main local model file to 100 MB; large dependency packages may encounter browser memory limits. | A converter page says practical file size is limited by available memory rather than an arbitrary cap. |
| Intended users | The maker describes the product as serving practical workflows involving CAD, printing, modeling tools, and the web. | The site describes use cases around moving 3D models between CAD, mesh, web, AR, real-time engine and 3D-printing workflows. |
| Local processing | STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB, and glTF routes parse selected files in the browser without sending those files to the server. | The conversion pipeline runs in a browser worker using WebAssembly geometry kernels. |
| Purpose | 3D Converter provides browser-local mesh viewing and conversion for handoffs between modeling tools, 3D printers, and the web. | MeshFormat converts 3D files in the browser, reading 20 formats and writing 12 across 229 conversion pairs. |
| Supported formats | The site lists STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, FBX, GLB, glTF, STEP, and IGES as supported formats. | The site lists formats including STL, OBJ, STEP, IGES, glTF, GLB, FBX, PLY, 3MF, 3DS, DAE, AMF, VRML, VTK, 3DM, BREP, OFF and USDZ as readable formats. |

In their own words
3D Model Converter
3D Model Converter is a web tool for viewing and converting mesh files between modeling, CAD, 3D-printing, and web workflows. It lists STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, FBX, GLB, glTF, STEP, and IGES support. STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB, and glTF files can be parsed locally in the browser without sending them to the server, while STEP and IGES use a cloud conversion route after a verified upload begins. The main local model file limit is 100 MB, and large dependency packages can meet browser memory limits. OBJ and glTF workflows may require accompanying MTL, BIN, and image files. After export, the tool reopens the result and rejects files that cannot be parsed or contain no renderable triangles. Reports compare available dimensions, triangles, objects, materials, textures, units, and axis data. The Free plan costs nothing and includes unlimited local workflows, five cloud credits monthly, 24-hour cloud history, and a 50 MB cloud-file limit. Pro costs $9.90 a month and adds 100 cloud credits, 30-day history, priority queue, and batches of up to 20 files.
