In their own words
3DPrinterOS
3DPrinterOS is a cloud platform for managing 3D printers, files, users, and print workflows. It supports remote printing, live monitoring, print queues, and failure detection. A cloud slicer prepares models, while toolpath visualization and G-code analysis support print preparation. The platform is described as vendor-agnostic and supports FDM and SLA printers, including Bambu Lab, UltiMaker, Creality, FlashForge, LulzBot, Prusa, Dremel, and Formlabs. Listed integrations include TinkerCAD, Bambu Lab, Klipper, Prusa, Dremel, and Ultimaker. Education plans are aimed at schools, universities, libraries, and makerspaces; Enterprise is for manufacturers, engineering teams, service bureaus, R&D departments, and corporate prototyping labs. Enterprise lists unlimited printer management, automatic job assignment, fleet visibility, and SAML 2.0 single sign-on. The platform supports private cloud or on-premise deployment. Premium costs $19 a month for 2 printers and 1 user. A 14-day trial provides full Premium access. Education and Enterprise pricing is custom.
OctoPrint
OctoPrint is free, open-source software that provides a web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers. From a browser, users can check print progress and temperatures, move the print head, and start, stop, or pause a job. The interface can show an embedded webcam feed and a visualization of the G-code being printed. A plugin system connects to OctoPrint’s official plugin repository for installation. Other listed features include timelapse recording, STL slicing, access controls, system commands, and event hooks. The site says it works out of the box with most consumer printers. Hosting options include Raspberry Pi, Android phone, Docker, Linux, Windows, and manual Mac installation. For OctoPi, Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, 4B, or Zero 2 is recommended; other hardware setups are not officially supported. Anonymous access is denied by default, and the documentation recommends a VPN or additional protection for internet access. OctoPrint does not control the embedded webcam, so its access controls cannot limit access to the webcam URL.
