4t Tray Minimizer
4t Tray Minimizer is a Windows utility for minimizing applications to the system tray and managing window behavior. It can roll windows up to their title bars, make them semi-transparent, and hide or show the system tray. Extra titlebar buttons and system menu commands offer actions such as minimizing to the tray, rolling up, staying on top, and changing transparency. Keyboard shortcuts can minimize, hide, restore, or launch applications. The Free version includes window management features and is available for personal and commercial use. Pro adds per-application settings and hotkeys, plus automatic actions through Favorites. Pro can also minimize applications at startup or when inactive, minimize instead of closing, and assign custom tray icons. The Free plan costs nothing. Pro licenses start at $19.95, paid once. Version 6.09 supports Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, and XP in 32-bit and 64-bit editions, and is available in 12 languages. The maker offers FAQs, email support, and a feedback form. herbstluftwm
herbstluftwm is a manual tiling window manager for the X window system. Each virtual desktop, called a tag, has a tiling layer and a floating layer, allowing windows to occupy split frames or be placed freely. Frames can be divided into further subframes or filled with windows, and keyboard controls move, resize, and focus tiled and floating windows. Configuration runs through herbstclient and can be changed while the manager is running without a restart. Screen space can be divided into virtual monitors that need not match physical displays; monitors share a common pool of tags. The project is licensed under the Simplified BSD License and is listed as free at free. The download page lists packages for Linux distributions and Mac OS X via MacPorts, and confirms operation on Cygwin.
