Overview

APM Music is a production-music catalog for media projects, from advertising and games to film, television, and social content. It is best suited to production teams that value guided music search and licensing support over instant self-service. The catalog is substantial, but downloads require account approval and project pricing is custom.

Key features

APM says it releases 180 albums and 2,200 tracks each month, with stems, and its Canadian resources page draws on more than 150 music libraries worldwide. That volume gives teams a broad pool to search for a specific mood or brief, while the ongoing releases offer returning users a steady source of new material.

Search combines a search engine with complimentary Music Director assistance, including a curated search for users. A Canadian-composer filter is also available through the CBC Radio-Canada page. This is a useful combination for projects with a defined creative or regional brief; casual users seeking a quick, unassisted download may not benefit as much.

Extensions provide access to APM through Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, keeping music discovery in two established editing workflows. The Qwire Cue Sheet Tool adds templates and simplified reporting, a practical aid for productions that need to track music use and prepare cue sheets.

APM describes its tracks as including full indemnification and simple licensing. Temporary-track approval carries no charge until a project is presented publicly. The account process is a meaningful counterweight: users can listen, make project folders, and share music after registering with a work email, but downloads require registration approval. Registration also provides 10 immediate downloads.

Pricing

APM is paid, with custom pricing rather than a published rate. Indie filmmakers are directed to contact the team for rates and bundles, so it is a fit for projects where licensing can be discussed directly, not for buyers who need to compare fixed prices before choosing. There are no published subscription tiers or seat and quota terms to compare; the stated 10 immediate downloads apply after registration.

Platforms

APM lists Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, web, API, extensions, and self-hosted access. Its support guidance recommends current Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Edge, and names Windows 10 and Mac OS X among compatible operating systems. The Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro extensions are the clearest workflow-specific options.

Who it's for

APM serves creators in film, television, advertising, video games, and social media. It is particularly suitable for production teams that need stems, cue-sheet support, curated search, or licensing provisions, including indie filmmakers willing to request project rates. A creator who needs immediate downloads without registration approval should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: A steady release volume and a network spanning more than 150 libraries give music teams breadth and ongoing catalog additions.
Pros: Music Director search assistance, editing extensions, and cue-sheet templates cover creative discovery through production administration.
Pros: Full indemnification, simple licensing, and no-charge temporary-track approval until public presentation address important production concerns.
Cons: Downloads depend on registration approval, so account creation alone does not guarantee immediate access.
Cons: Custom pricing requires a direct inquiry, making advance budget comparisons less straightforward.

Alternatives

Compare Stock Music Libraries if you want to assess the broader category. Choose Soundstripe instead if a free Twitch extension or free trial is a priority. Epidemic Sound may suit individual creators seeking a plan for one monetized channel per platform, with a free trial but no free plan. Consider RouteNote if you need free music distribution and want to keep 85% of net revenue rather than license a production catalog. Musicbed is another option for client and brand work, with a Business plan covering social accounts up to 1M followers and clients up to 250 employees. YouTube is a free alternative for users who want a free service. For a published monthly price that includes music, stems, sound effects, and a Premiere Pro extension, consider Artlist Music, whose Music & SFX Social plan is 14.99 USD per month. Sonoton may suit commissioned radio and TV productions where the broadcaster has a GEMA contract; use notification is required. Bensound offers selected free tracks with attribution, or a Business All Access plan at 39.99 USD per year.

Verdict

APM Music is a strong choice for production teams that need a deep, regularly refreshed catalog alongside human search support, editing access, cue-sheet tools, and licensing provisions. Its main drawbacks are custom pricing and approval-gated downloads. If those terms fit a project’s workflow, APM offers more than a track library; if speed and fixed self-serve pricing matter more, choose another service.
