Overview

Founded in 2017, UnitedMasters serves independent artists across genres and career stages. It combines distribution to more than 150 music services, including Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok and Instagram, with tools for sharing releases, managing fans and tracking streaming activity.

DEBUT+ and SELECT artists retain 100% of royalties, and UnitedMasters says artists keep ownership of their master recording rights. The service’s royalty model is mixed, so the terms of a particular plan or add-on matter. Monthly payouts are subject to the applicable cash-out minimum and plan terms.

Key features

Unlimited releases on DEBUT+ and SELECT make those tiers practical for artists releasing frequently. Review time is up to five business days on DEBUT+ and two on SELECT; the faster window may matter when coordinating a release, but neither is a guaranteed release date.

MasterLinks, customizable ArtistPages, fan management tools and streaming analytics support release sharing and audience tracking. Split Pay lets artists share royalty earnings with collaborators. These tools make the service more than a delivery channel, though the central plan distinction remains royalties, review speed and access to opportunities.

SELECT artists can submit music for brand partnership and sync licensing opportunities, but submission does not guarantee selection. Real-Time Royalties is also limited to SELECT artists averaging at least $20 per month in streaming royalties who meet eligibility criteria. Treat both as conditional benefits, not assured income or access.

Optional services include mastering at $4.99 per track, Mastering+ at $5.99, and YouTube Content ID monetization at $4.99 per release, with 80% royalties retained for that Content ID add-on. That add-on’s royalty share differs from the 100% retention advertised for DEBUT+ and SELECT, so artists should account for it separately.

Pricing

UnitedMasters has a free tier and paid plans from $19.99/yr. DEBUT costs 0.00 USD per free. It supports accepting and receiving royalty splits, with cash-out after a $20 minimum. That is a low-commitment starting point, but the minimum can delay access to earnings for artists whose royalties accrue slowly.

DEBUT+ costs 19.99 USD per year, billed $19.99/year. It includes unlimited releases, 100% of royalties, distribution to 150+ services and review within five business days. This is the sensible paid choice for artists who want broad distribution and full royalties without paying extra for SELECT’s opportunities and faster review.

SELECT costs 59.99 USD per year, billed $59.99/year. It also includes unlimited releases and 100% of royalties, with review within two business days and the ability to submit for brand and sync opportunities. Choose it when those benefits justify the $40 annual step up from DEBUT+; opportunity selection is not guaranteed, and Real-Time Royalties has separate eligibility requirements.

PARTNER is by invitation, with custom pricing. It offers bespoke royalty splits, dedicated artist relations support, and personalized marketing and distribution strategy. Those services may suit artists needing a more tailored relationship, but it is not an open, self-serve upgrade.

Platforms

UnitedMasters runs on Android, iOS and the web. Its distribution reaches more than 150 services, including Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok and Instagram.

Who it's for

DEBUT fits artists testing distribution who can live with a $20 cash-out threshold. DEBUT+ is a stronger fit for regular releasers who want unlimited uploads and to retain all royalties at a comparatively low annual price. SELECT is for artists who value a shorter review period and access to brand and sync submissions enough to pay more. Artists seeking guaranteed partnership placements, or a free tier without a stated cash-out minimum, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: DEBUT+ and SELECT combine unlimited releases with 100% royalty retention, while distribution covers more than 150 services.
Pros: SELECT’s two-business-day review window is shorter than DEBUT+’s five-business-day window, and its brand and sync submission route adds a potential opportunity channel.
Cons: DEBUT requires $20 before cash-out, which can postpone access to smaller royalty balances.
Cons: SELECT costs substantially more than DEBUT+ and does not guarantee selection for brand or sync work.
Cons: The YouTube Content ID add-on retains 80% royalties, unlike the 100% retention on the paid distribution plans.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Music Distribution Platforms. RouteNote is worth considering if a free distribution option that keeps 85% of net revenue and charges no upfront distribution fee is more important than UnitedMasters’ paid-plan royalty retention. FreshTunes offers a free one-artist tier with standard review, support that can take up to 10 days and payouts that can take up to 30 days; consider it if those terms suit your priorities.

Indiefy may suit an artist who can work within one release per month and a 1-artist free tier in exchange for an 85% royalty split and a $100 minimum payment. NotaDist offers a free tier with unlimited tracks across all stores and 80% royalties, making it an option for artists willing to accept a lower share.

LANDR Distribution is a paid alternative with a $24.00 USD per year plan for unlimited releases and 100% of streaming revenue; it may fit artists who prefer a paid-only distribution plan. Ditto Music starts at $19.00 USD per year for unlimited releases for one artist across 150+ platforms, a close alternative for a single-artist release schedule.

ONErpm has a free Emerging option with no registration, annual or upload fees and earns a percentage of generated revenue, which may appeal to artists avoiding upfront costs. Amuse is a paid alternative with an Artist plan at $23.99 USD per year for one artist, unlimited releases, 24-hour ASAP release and daily streaming insights; consider it if those stated plan features are the priority.

Verdict

UnitedMasters is a strong fit for independent artists who want distribution across more than 150 services and a clear path from free distribution to unlimited paid releases with 100% royalty retention. DEBUT+ is the most balanced choice for artists who do not need SELECT’s submission access or faster review. Look elsewhere if the $20 free-plan cash-out minimum is a poor fit, or if you need brand placements to be guaranteed rather than an opportunity to submit.
