| Spec score · Network Packet Analyzer Software | 9.4 (#1) | 8.4 (#6) |
| Audience | The maker identifies SOC, DFIR, incident response, network security, network operations, MSSP, integration, and forensic teams as intended OnPrem users. | The maker identifies SecOps and SOC analysts, DevOps and NetOps engineers, and security consultants and pentesters as its primary audiences. |
| Integrations | OnPrem supports local passkey two-factor authentication, LDAP/Active Directory, SAML 2.0, OAuth through Google, Microsoft, and GitHub, and SCIM provisioning. | The maker describes use with SIEM systems, CI/CD pipelines, ticketing workflows and custom backend scripts. |
| Security controls | The security page states encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, firewalls and monitoring for hosted data. | The maker states that transfers use TLS 1.3, files are encrypted in Amazon S3 and analyses run in isolated containers. |
| Support | OnPrem inquiries normally begin with a 30-minute fit call, and the maker says it replies to requests within two business days. | The FAQ says most standard captures process in under one to two minutes and high-volume files often complete in under five minutes on dedicated infrastructure. |
| What it does | A-Packets analyzes PCAP and PCAPNG captures for incident response, forensics and protocol inspection. | PcapAI is a web platform that automatically analyzes PCAP and PCAPNG captures with AI and deep packet inspection. |

In their own words
A-Packets
A-Packets analyzes PCAP and PCAPNG captures for incident response, forensics and protocol inspection. It reconstructs HTTP sessions, maps communicating hosts and services, examines wireless artifacts, extracts files, identifies credential exposure and flags suspicious events. The hosted analyzer accepts native capture files from tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump. Public analysis costs nothing, requires no signup and accepts uploads up to 25 MB, but the resulting page is public. Private workspace plans include reports and a REST API key: Starter Workspace (monthly) is $11.99 a month, Professional (monthly) is $24.99 a month, and Advanced (monthly) is $49.99 a month. Yearly workspaces are $99 a year, $199 a year and $399 a year, respectively. One-time packs cost $14.99 as a one-time purchase, $44.99, paid once or $99.99, paid once. Subscription analyses have permanent private storage; credit-pack reports are deleted after 30 days. OnPrem supports customer-controlled storage and air-gapped deployments, but analyzes captures case by case and does not decrypt TLS payloads, capture continuously or alert.
PcapAI
PcapAI analyzes PCAP and PCAPNG network captures and creates security reports. Its machine-learning models evaluate packet context and relate findings to MITRE ATT&CK techniques. Reports are downloadable PDFs with risk scores, packet evidence, findings, and remediation steps. The service detects plaintext credentials, NTLM hashes, Kerberos tickets, and session tokens, then masks discovered credentials in reports. It also surfaces retransmissions, per-flow latency, TCP Zero Window events, and ARP conflicts. The homepage offers free uploads without an account; compressed archives are not accepted, and file-size limits vary by plan. Options include web, API, Windows, macOS, Linux, and self-hosted use. An open-source MCP Server supports local analysis with AI assistants such as Claude Desktop; the maker says packet data stays on the device. The Advanced plan includes API access, and the maker describes sending findings to Splunk, Elastic SIEM, or Microsoft Sentinel. Pricing includes a $9.00 USD one-time Single Report, monthly and annual plans, and one-time packs.
