In their own words
AccuKnox
AccuKnox is a Zero Trust Security platform covering AI, API, application, cloud, and supply chain security. It provides visibility, inline enforcement, and automated policy discovery across kernel, data, API, and application layers. For runtime security, eBPF telemetry reports processes, system calls, and traffic, while Linux Security Modules enforce kernel-level denies. Deployment options include agentless, customer-hosted cloud, on-premise, and fully air-gapped models. Listed environments include AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, OpenStack, OpenShift, VMware, and Nutanix, with additional cloud platforms also listed. AccuKnox says it supports continuous compliance across more than 45 frameworks, including SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, GDPR, and FedRAMP. Integrations include tools for service management, logging, code hosting, messaging, and incident response, such as Jira, ServiceNow, Splunk, GitHub, Slack, and PagerDuty. Linux, self-hosted, and web are listed platforms. The pricing note lists a free plan and 30-day trial, while pricing is on request; custom pricing depends on the customer’s environment.
Falco
Falco is a free, open source runtime security project for Linux and self-hosted environments. It monitors hosts, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud environments for abnormal behavior, potential threats, and compliance violations in real time. Events are compared with built-in detection rules, and users can create rules for their own environments. Sources include Linux kernel system calls, Kubernetes audit logs, cloud events such as AWS CloudTrail, and events from GitHub and Okta. For kernel event monitoring, Falco uses an eBPF driver by default and offers a kernel module for wider compatibility. Installation options cover Linux hosts, Docker containers, and Kubernetes, including official Helm charts; supported architectures include x86_64 and ARM64. Falcosidekick can forward events to more than 50 systems, including email, chat, message queues, serverless functions, and databases. Falco is hosted by the CNCF as a graduated project. Detection depends on having appropriate rules in place, while resource use varies with server load and workload. The project recommends testing performance in the target environment.
