In their own words
ActiveBatch
ActiveBatch is a workload automation platform for coordinating processes across IT and business systems. Teams can build cross-platform workflows with a no-code or low-code drag-and-drop interface and guided wizards. The platform includes more than 100 prebuilt job steps for applications, databases and platforms, with templates for on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments. Its connector library covers systems such as SAP, Oracle, VMware, Informatica, Amazon and Microsoft; the Super REST API Adapter links third-party or in-house services. Operational tools include real-time monitoring, customizable alerts, workflow visibility and views for machine load, forecasts and Gantt charts. Predictive SLAs and alerts identify overruns, underruns and potential breaches, and ActiveBatch can automate remediation. Custom roles give business users access to workflows. Redwood presents it as a solution for businesses of all sizes and says its workload automation products are ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certified. Redwood also states that it provides global 24×365 customer support. Pricing is not published; visitors are directed to contact Redwood for a demo or speak with an expert.
Argo Workflows
Argo Workflows is a free, open-source engine for orchestrating container-based jobs on Kubernetes. Workflows can be arranged as sequential steps or as tasks linked in a directed acyclic graph, with each step running in a container. The project lists machine learning pipelines, data and batch processing, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD as use cases. Controls include loops, conditionals, retries, timeouts, suspension and resumption, cancellation, and limits on parallel work. Cron scheduling, workflow archiving, a UI for viewing and managing runs, and Prometheus metrics are included. Artifact support covers S3, Artifactory, Alibaba Cloud OSS, Azure Blob Storage, HTTP, Git, GCS, raw artifacts, and plugins. The server provides REST API support over HTTP and gRPC, with client libraries for Java, Go, Python, and TypeScript. Argo Workflows is self-hosted and can run on any Kubernetes cluster. Its listed plan costs nothing, and the official pages list no paid plans or usage limits. Administrators should configure transport security, authentication, roles, and permissions; workflow pods run as root by default unless their security context is set.
