In their own words
Adlice Protect
Adlice Protect is Windows malware security software with free and paid plans. It scans for and removes known and unknown malware, including viruses, ransomware, and trojans, using AI heuristics and a cloud signatures engine. Real-time protection is described as stopping infected programs before execution. The product detects and removes rootkits, blocks ransomware encryption with selected-folder protection, and helps prevent suspicious programs from reading or changing copied passwords, card numbers, and crypto addresses. Users can scan on demand or schedule weekly scans, retain scan history, and review detections in quarantine with an option to restore them. The Free plan costs nothing and includes scan-and-remove malware, AntiRootkit, personal use, and forum support. Premium costs $15 a year; Technician costs $35 a year and adds portable licensing, unlimited machines, and scriptable software.
herdProtect
herdProtect is a free Windows desktop scanner intended to provide a second opinion alongside an existing antivirus product. Its cloud scanner uses 68 anti-malware engines, checks active files and auto-start locations, and can send unknown files for remote analysis. The site says that analysis of unknown files takes 5 to 30 minutes. Scans are on demand, with no real-time protection and no scheduled-scan option. Detected threats can be quarantined, but remediation is manual. Reports and other communications between the computer and herdProtect servers are encrypted. The service does not accept one-off or batch file uploads for analysis. The maker says downloads are not currently being distributed and invites interested users to email for a waiting list. Use is intended for personal, non-commercial purposes unless otherwise specified. Support is limited and listed at [email protected].
