Overview

The library contains more than 900 million assets across stock images, video, audio, templates, and other formats. Subscriptions include standard images, templates, 3D assets, and music, while most also include HD video. That range makes Adobe Stock useful when a project needs more than photography, though the precise asset allowance varies by plan.

AI Studio can edit stock images and videos before licensing and downloading them. Its tools change colors and moods, adjust image ratios, swap backgrounds, animate still images, and support text-based editing. This gives buyers room to shape an asset before committing to its license, rather than choosing only from its original presentation.

Adobe Stock works independently of other Adobe products. Creative Cloud users can also preview, edit, and license assets in Photoshop before purchase, a practical advantage for teams already building their work there.

Key features

Commercial licensing and usage limits

Plans include commercial-use licensing, but that is not blanket permission for every use. The Standard License generally limits print runs to 500,000 and excludes use in items for resale. An Extended License is required for larger print runs or resale, so merchandise and high-volume print projects should account for that before choosing a plan.

Plans for teams and organizations

Team subscriptions pool licenses across members and are designed for small to midsize businesses. Enterprise subscriptions add configurable access, advanced administration, and deployment alongside pooled licenses, making them the more appropriate fit for midsize to large organizations. Adobe provides a consultation request option for business-plan inquiries.

API and security

API access supports integrating Adobe Stock into other services or workflows. Adobe says it builds security into products through its Secure Product Lifecycle and uses hundreds of security processes and controls; it also says it complies with many industry standards and regulations and undergoes independent audits.

Pricing

Adobe Stock is paid, with a 7-day trial and no free plan. The listed subscription options have custom pricing:

10 standard assets: 10 standard assets, 1 video, and 120 rollover credits.
25 standard assets: 25 standard assets, 3 videos, and 300 rollover credits.
40 standard assets: 40 standard assets, 6 videos, and 480 rollover credits.
750 standard assets: 750 standard assets and 25 videos.
3 standard assets: 3 standard assets and 36 rollover credits.
25 standard assets month-to-month: 25 standard assets, 3 videos, and 300 rollover credits.

The smaller allowances suit lighter asset needs; the larger quotas are aimed at sustained or higher-volume use. The 25-asset month-to-month option offers the same stated asset, video, and rollover allowances as the 25-asset option, with monthly billing indicated by its name. Unused credit-pack credits expire after 12 months outside Japan and after 6 months for residents of Japan, so buyers should consider whether they can use credits within that window.

Platforms

Adobe Stock is available on web, Android, and iOS, and offers API access. The Photoshop integration is an additional workflow option for Creative Cloud users, but the service does not require other Adobe products.

Who it's for

Adobe Stock is a strong fit for creatives who need several kinds of licensed assets, especially those who want to adjust stock imagery before licensing or work in Photoshop. Its pooled-license team plans suit small and midsize businesses, while configurable access and advanced administration target larger organizations. Buyers needing resale rights or print runs above the Standard License limit should budget for an Extended License; casual users seeking a free plan should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Broad asset range: More than 900 million assets span imagery, video, audio, templates, and other content.
Pre-license editing: AI Studio can alter images and videos before purchase, including background swaps and still-image animation.
Useful for Adobe workflows: Photoshop users can preview, edit, and license assets without leaving that workflow.
Commercial use has boundaries: The Standard License excludes resale items and generally caps print runs at 500,000, requiring an Extended License for those uses.
No free plan: A 7-day trial is the only stated way to try the paid service without committing to a subscription.
Credit expiry: Credit-pack balances expire after 12 months in most regions and after 6 months in Japan.

Alternatives

Pixabay is the better starting point for buyers who want a free plan and free media downloads; full-resolution photo and video downloads require sign-up.

Pexels also suits buyers seeking free photos and videos, and includes API allowances of 200 requests per hour and 20,000 per month.

Vecteezy is another option for buyers comparing free and paid stock-asset plans.

VectorStock is worth considering when buying individual vectors with a Pro license and no ongoing commitment matters more than a broad subscription.

Bigstock is an alternative for buyers considering paid image subscriptions with daily download allowances.

IMAGO is an option for buyers seeking rights-managed or royalty-free editorial imagery.

Shutterstock is another paid stock service to compare for image downloads and AI-generation allowances.

Depositphotos is an alternative for buyers comparing freemium plans with unlimited-download options.

Verdict

Choose Adobe Stock if you need a broad mix of licensed assets, value editing before purchase, or want to source and license work within Photoshop. Look elsewhere if you need a free plan or if the Standard License limits conflict with resale or large-print use and an Extended License is not practical.
