Overview

Advaneo DataMarketplace is a data marketplace for organizations and individuals who need to find, sell, or work with external data. It is strongest for teams that want discovery, licensing, direct transfers, and a cloud analysis environment in one service.

Its defining advantage is that providers retain raw data until a licensed purchase is confirmed; its clearest trade-offs are small Workbench allowances on the lower tiers and a 30% sales commission on Premium.

Key features

Discovery and offers

The catalog indexes metadata using a standard based on IDSA standards, rather than storing providers’ raw data. Text search, visual Discovery navigation, and machine-learning-based metadata recommendations give buyers multiple ways to find offers, with support for 16 languages. Providers can publish free offers or set commercial prices and license terms. For paid offers, raw data is supplied after the buyer accepts the license and payment is confirmed. Mastercard and Visa are currently supported.

Transfer and analysis

The IDS Connector connects to file systems, databases, and sensor data streams; authenticated connectors can exchange data with one another. Keeping raw data with the provider until direct transfer may suit sellers that do not want the marketplace to handle it, but it also makes the process depend on provider-side delivery.

The cloud Workbench includes Jupyter Notebook and lists support for Python 3, Julia 1.0.1, R, and Ruby 2.5.1. It can work with marketplace data or external sources, and common data-science libraries are preinstalled and can be extended dynamically. This brings analysis close to data discovery, though the storage allowance varies substantially by plan.

Pricing

Advaneo uses a subscription model with a free tier, paid Premium, and custom pricing for Enterprise and Small Business. The lower-cost tiers are useful for exploring the marketplace, but their Workbench limits make them less suitable for sustained analysis.

Free: 0.00 EUR per free. It includes 15 MB of Workbench space, an IDS-Connector trial, no advanced features, and community-level service. Tutorials, documentation, and FAQ are included. This is a low-commitment way to explore, but the small workspace and trial connector limit its role in ongoing workflows.
Premium: 2950.00 EUR per month, billed monthly; advanced yearly payment is 25 € monthly. It includes 100 MB of Workbench space, 10 paid data offers, a basic IDS-Connector, restricted third-party integrations, and basic technical support, alongside tutorials, documentation, and FAQ. A 30% commission on data sales is a material cost for active sellers, while the 100 MB allowance remains modest for analysis work.
Enterprise: custom pricing, with personalized quotation and payment agreement. It offers customizable Workbench space and custom third-party integration tools. Some listed features are marked available soon, so buyers should confirm that required capabilities are ready before choosing it.
Small Business: custom pricing, with personalized quotation and payment agreement. It starts with 10 GB of Workbench space and is intended for teams. Some listed features are marked available soon; teams should confirm which are usable for their workflows.

Free and Premium include tutorials, documentation, and FAQ; basic technical support is listed for Premium. The difference between 15 MB on Free, 100 MB on Premium, and 10 GB at the start on Small Business is significant for anyone planning to analyze data in the Workbench.

Platforms

Advaneo DataMarketplace runs on web and provides an API. The IDS Connector also links data sources such as file systems, databases, and sensor streams, but those connection capabilities are not a substitute for a listed desktop or mobile app.

Who it's for

It is a good fit for data buyers who want catalog discovery and licensing alongside a path to analysis, and for providers who want to offer data under their own prices and terms while retaining raw data until transfer. Free is best for initial exploration; Premium suits sellers who need paid offers and a basic connector. Teams needing substantially more workspace should compare the custom-priced Small Business and Enterprise options. It is less compelling for high-volume sellers who cannot absorb the 30% Premium commission or for users who need a larger included workspace at a clearly stated price.

Pros and cons

Pro: Metadata discovery combines text search, visual navigation, and recommendations, with 16-language support, helping buyers explore a catalog in more than one way.
Pro: Providers set prices and license terms, and raw data is transferred directly after acceptance and confirmed payment, rather than being stored by the marketplace.
Pro: The Workbench brings Jupyter Notebook and several listed languages together with marketplace or external data sources.
Con: Premium takes a 30% commission on data sales, which can weigh heavily on sellers with frequent transactions.
Con: Free and Premium provide only 15 MB and 100 MB of Workbench space respectively, limiting their appeal for larger data workloads.
Con: Enterprise and Small Business use custom pricing, and some features on those plans are marked available soon, making cost and readiness harder to assess.

Alternatives

For a broad comparison, start with Data Marketplace Software.

Snowflake CoCo is a paid option with a free trial and API, web, Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms; consider it if those platform choices or a trial matter more than Advaneo's free plan.
AWS Data Exchange has free open data products and pay-as-you-go products. Choose it if access to free catalog products or usage-based purchasing better fits than Advaneo's subscription and seller commission model.
Data Marketplace has a free tier with 10 downloads per month and 1,000 API calls per month, plus a $19.00 USD monthly Starter plan with higher stated quotas. It may fit buyers focused on clear download and API caps.
Datarade Marketplace has a free Commission-only plan with a 30% commission and caps on listings, contact requests, proposals, posting budget, and seats. Compare it if those seller quotas are a closer match to your needs.
Intertrust Analytics Marketplace is a paid option with a free trial and self-hosted and web platforms; consider it if self-hosting is a priority.
Informatica Product 360 is a paid product with API, self-hosted, web, and Windows platforms, and pricing depends on data volume, modules, deployment, integrations, and add-ons. It may suit buyers evaluating those deployment and configuration dimensions.
DX Network offers a free marketplace trial, with data transactions using DX Tokens and priced per datapoint. Consider it if that transaction model is preferable.
IQVIA SmartSolve Complaint Management is an alternative.

Verdict

Choose Advaneo DataMarketplace if you need data discovery and licensing, provider-retained raw data with direct transfer, and an integrated Workbench. Its catalog and exchange model are the main reasons to consider it; look elsewhere if Premium's 30% sales commission or the lower plans' small Workbench allowances do not fit, or if custom pricing leaves too much uncertainty for your team.
