In their own words
Adventure Game Studio
Adventure Game Studio is a free, open-source IDE and engine for creating and running point-and-click adventure games in the style of classic Sierra and LucasArts titles. Its editor is supported only on Microsoft Windows or Windows emulators such as WINE, while games can target Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android. The Editor includes a component for preparing Android builds, and AGS Player runs compatible games on Android. The runtime engine also has ports for iOS and a web version that runs in a browser when served from a web server. Plugins can add game functionality, but a compatible plugin build is needed for each target platform. AGS was created in 1999, became open source in 2011, and is developed by contributors under the Artistic License 2.0. Its terms say the software is provided as-is without warranty and prohibit charging money for AGS without written permission from its authors. The manual recommends community forums for development help.
CopperCube
CopperCube is a 3D authoring tool for making games and apps, including projects created without programming. Its maker cites first-person shooters, adventures, walkthroughs, simulators, and e-learning apps as possible uses. A click-based event and action system supports no-code interactions, while JavaScript can be used for scripting across publishing targets. Visual tools include terrain editing, real-time shadows, static lighting, moving vegetation, water rendering, particle effects, and a built-in lightmapper. CopperCube imports 3D formats including FBX, 3DS, OBJ, and X. Projects can be published as Windows apps, WebGL websites, macOS apps, and Android apps, although Android publishing is marked deprecated. The current editor is Windows-only starting with version 6.4; a macOS editor download is available for version 6.3. The free edition permits unlimited scenes and apps without royalties or a revenue limit. Professional costs €37, paid once, and Studio costs €126, paid once. The maker says projects made with any edition can be published and sold without royalties.
