In their own words

AFileFix Document Comparison

AFileFix Document Comparison is a free web tool for comparing one pair of document versions. It identifies added, removed, and modified text in PDF or DOCX files, including mixed-format pairs, with a 25 MB limit per file. Results appear on screen, and a downloadable DOCX report provides analysis and plain-English explanations of each change and why it might matter. The tool is recommended for structured, text-heavy documents such as contracts, policies, proposals, terms of service, and manuals.

Both files are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. AFileFix says it removes uploaded files from its server within minutes. Anthropic retains API data for up to 30 days for safety review, then deletes it, and does not use it to train AI models. The comparison covers text, not layout-only changes such as fonts, spacing, page breaks, or margins. Scanned and password-protected PDFs are unsupported, and the tool does not OCR scanned files. Documents over approximately 150 pages may be truncated. It does not provide three-way comparison, Word track changes, or legal redline output.

Compare Suite

Compare Suite is a Windows file comparison tool for office professionals, developers, and webmasters. It compares Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, web pages, and plain text, and can produce reports with comments attached to differences. Spreadsheet comparisons show absolute or percentage changes in numbers and date differences in days. PDF comparison extracts text, so scanned PDFs need OCR before their text can be compared. The software can compare and synchronize local or remote folders, compare files over FTP, and inspect ZIP or RAR archives without unpacking them. Command-line automation and integrations with third-party document management systems and tools are also listed. The maker says processing happens locally and opened files remain on the PC. The free Light plan covers basic file comparison; paid one-time licenses are $70, paid once for Standard and $140, paid once for Professional. A fully functional 30-day evaluation is available. Windows 10 or Windows 7 is listed as a minimum requirement; Word and Excel comparisons require Microsoft Word and Excel, and Office 365 is not supported.
