AimBetter

AimBetter monitors database and application performance and provides real-time, AI-powered root-cause analysis for IT and DBA teams. Its visibility includes queries, locks, failures, operating systems, databases, and web activity. AimBetter says its AI analyzes query plans while queries run to recommend indexes. Supported databases include SQL Server and Oracle on Windows and Linux, plus cloud SQL Server and Oracle on Azure and Amazon RDS; MySQL and PostgreSQL are described as roadmap items. Webhooks connect with services such as Zapier, Nagios, Zabbix, ServiceNow, Salesforce, monday.com, Slack, and Trello. A mobile app provides access to critical metrics and alerts. Security features listed include encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege agent access without direct database content access, and web controls such as two-factor authentication and single sign-on. Pricing is on request, with a starting price of $110 a month per server; a 7-day trial is available. The agent averages about 0.5% CPU and less than 500 MB of RAM.

pgwatch

pgwatch is a free, open-source metrics collector and visualization solution for PostgreSQL databases. A remote daemon periodically connects to databases and reads PostgreSQL statistics using a normal database user, without special database rights or server-side extensions. Grafana presents the metrics and lets users add graphs; optional alerts can go through Mail, Slack, or PagerDuty. Metrics can be extended using pure SQL, and supported storage options include PostgreSQL, Prometheus, JSON File, and RPC. A built-in web interface manages databases and metric definitions and displays logs. pgwatch supports PostgreSQL 14 and newer, including single instances, high-availability clusters, pooled environments using PgBouncer or Pgpool II, and Patroni cluster managers. It is self-hosted, with a one-minute Docker installation described alongside custom installation options. The FAQ says it can be deployed fully on premises. Some operating-system metrics may be unavailable on cloud-managed PostgreSQL services because of platform restrictions.
