Overview

CompanyMood combines recurring assessments of workplace mood with surveys, reporting and improvement tools. The approach is useful when an organization wants to track sentiment over time and give feedback a route into discussion or action, rather than collecting survey responses alone.

The intended customer range is 100–25,000 employees, with a focus on DACH and Europe. That scale makes the 30-person free-plan ceiling a limited trial of the service rather than a way to equip most intended customers at no cost. CompanyMood was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Schwalbach, Germany.

Key features

Regular mood feedback is designed to help identify workplace strengths and problems early. Surveys can be set up for a company, department or role, with real-time online analysis and PDF reporting. Pulse and engagement surveys, anonymous responses and action planning are supported, giving teams a way to move from measurement toward follow-up.

Actions, statements, event pins, feedback chat and a suggestion box provide several channels for communicating and recording improvements. Automated PDF reports and CSV/XLS exports support both quick review and further analysis with HR data. This breadth is valuable for organizations that want a feedback workflow in one service, though it also means smaller teams may pay for a wider toolkit than they need.

Integrations include Slack, Microsoft Teams, Personio, Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365. The API can bring mood tracking into company software such as an intranet or employee platform. Slack’s EVA bot proactively reminds employees to submit mood ratings, while Android and iOS apps add push reminders, support 14 languages and let employees without PC workstations participate.

CompanyMood says its infrastructure is operated in the EU under GDPR requirements and that it performs regular penetration tests. Team-level results require at least five people per department, and employees cannot see which colleagues have signed up. The five-person threshold helps avoid reporting on very small groups, but it also means some departments will not get their own results.

Pricing

CompanyMood is freemium, with a free trial also offered. The Teams plan costs 0€ (free) and supports up to 30 people, with the Moodbarometer, Suggestion-Box, mobile apps, PDF reports and dashboard. It is a sensible way for a small group to try recurring feedback, but it does not include the Topics, survey system, statements, event pins, roles or reporting by unit found in Business.

Business is billed at 3€ per person/month, with a minimum price of €99 per month. It adds Topics, the Survey System, Statements & Event-Pins, Roles and reporting by unit, making it the more relevant tier for organizations that need structured surveys and unit-level reporting. The minimum means a smaller paid team still faces a €99 monthly bill.

Enterprise is billed at 5€ per person/month. It adds individual GDPR contracts, Premium Support, Advanced Filters, security options, API access and HRIS Sync. This is the appropriate tier for buyers that need those controls or integrations; the higher per-person price is harder to justify if Business already covers their reporting needs. The listed plan terms do not state a billing renewal cadence.

Platforms

CompanyMood runs on the web and offers Android and iOS apps, as well as an API. The mobile apps’ push reminders and support for employees without PC workstations make participation less dependent on a desk-based workforce. API access is included with Enterprise, while the service also describes API integration for company-owned software.

Who it's for

CompanyMood is a good fit for DACH and European organizations that want regular staff sentiment data, surveys at multiple organizational levels and practical tools for follow-up. Mobile participation and messenger integrations broaden its usefulness across office and non-desk teams. It is a weaker fit for a small organization that needs company-wide use at no cost, or for teams too small to meet the five-person reporting threshold.

Pros and cons

Pros: Mood checks, pulse and engagement surveys, and action planning connect measurement with follow-up.
Pros: Android and iOS apps, push reminders and 14 languages support participation beyond desktop users.
Pros: PDF reports and CSV/XLS exports provide both ready-to-share output and data for HR analysis.
Cons: Teams is capped at 30 people, limiting the free plan for the product’s stated 100–25,000-employee market.
Cons: Business costs at least €99 per month, even when a team’s per-person calculation would otherwise be lower.
Cons: Departments need five people for team-level results, so very small groups cannot receive separate reporting.

Alternatives

Choose Enalyzer Employee Engagement if its free plan’s 10-response allowance or broad platform support, including macOS and Windows, better suits your evaluation; its Professional plan includes 50,000 responses per survey for one user.

Questback Employee Experience is a paid alternative with a free trial and web and API access; its EX Starter and EX Business plans include five and ten hours of InsightLab respectively.

6Q is worth considering if weekly, two-weekly or four-weekly polls and a free plan for up to five users are a better match; its listed free plan includes detailed reports, visual trends across 18 polls and unlimited segments.

Consider Teamphoria for peer-to-peer and manager recognition alongside engagement surveys and pulse mood tracking.

FeedbackPulse offers a free plan for up to 10 employees, with five active and scheduled surveys, an employee directory, kudos recognition and basic dashboards.

Harmny HR Compliance is another freemium option, with a free plan for up to 10 users and 5 GB of storage.

Jackpoll is free and open source, with public frontend, API and deployment stacks under the MIT licence.

Honestly is a paid alternative with a Team plan at €24.00 per employee per year, billed annually, equivalent to €2.00 per employee/month.

For a broader shortlist, see Employee Survey Software.

Verdict

CompanyMood is a strong choice for European employers that want recurring mood checks tied to surveys, reporting and recorded improvement work, especially when mobile participation matters. The free tier offers a small-scale starting point, but the 30-person cap, Business’s €99 monthly minimum and the five-person reporting threshold are material constraints. Look elsewhere if you need a genuinely free rollout at larger scale or separate results for very small teams.
