In their own words
AkuCalc
AkuCalc is an API product for calculating sales tax inside ERP, ecommerce, and billing workflows. It covers all US tax jurisdictions, including more than 13,000 jurisdictions, and supports Canada. Calculations use transaction addresses for rooftop-accurate results, while rates and rules update automatically as regulations change. Businesses can configure taxability by product, jurisdiction, and transaction type; complex or research-intensive mappings are scoped separately. A valid certificate stored in AkuCert is applied automatically as an exemption. The API connects custom ERP, ecommerce, billing, and other business systems, and featured integrations include Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central, Dynamics GP, Acumatica, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, and NetSuite. Transaction data supports reporting, reconciliation, return preparation, and audit workflows. Clarus describes guided implementation covering configuration, integration setup, testing, and training, with timing depending on systems and data complexity. AkuCalc is aimed at finance, tax, controller, ERP, and growing-business teams. Pricing is on request through a custom quote.
Complyt
Complyt is an API and web sales tax engine for business transactions. Its API accepts line items, shipping addresses, transaction status, and related details, then returns a calculated tax amount and applicable rate. The US rate endpoint currently supports supplied addresses in the United States, while documentation describes VAT and global tax for international transactions. Customer records can be classified as retail, reseller, or marketplace, and those categories can affect taxability and nexus thresholds. Complyt distinguishes estimates, which do not count toward nexus thresholds, from invoices, which do. It offers nexus monitoring and an exemptions endpoint for exempt customers. Address Validation checks US addresses against official postal databases and returns suggested matches with confidence scores. Xero integration calculates line-level US sales tax using jurisdiction, nexus, exemptions, and product type; Xero tax calculation requires a US shipping or billing address. API access uses a client ID and secret to obtain a bearer token that expires after 24 hours. Pricing is on request.
