| Deployment | Akvorado is available as a Docker image or a prebuilt binary; the documented prebuilt binary is for Linux x86-64. | Wansight components are Linux packages installed on the customer's own servers, and the Console centralizes management through a web interface. |
| Purpose | Akvorado collects network flows, enriches them with metadata, and provides a web interface to explore the data. | Wansight provides network traffic monitoring, analysis, and accounting without DDoS detection or mitigation. |
| Support | The project directs users to its documentation and GitHub Discussions for help, and asks them to read troubleshooting guidance before opening a discussion. | Standard support is included with every license and is available by email and web portal Monday to Friday. |

In their own words
Akvorado
Akvorado is free network-flow software that receives NetFlow, IPFIX, and sFlow records, enriches them, and exposes the results through a web interface. Its inlet forwards incoming flows to Kafka. The outlet parses and augments them before sending data to ClickHouse. SNMP can supply exporter and interface details, while IPinfo or MaxMind can add geographic information. Optional BGP routes received through BMP contribute AS numbers, AS paths, and communities. A Grafana plugin is available, and the inlet, outlet, orchestrator, and console expose HTTP metrics. Written in Go, Akvorado is delivered as a single binary or Docker image, but deployment requires Kafka and ClickHouse. Recommended resources are 8 vCPUs, 100 GB disk, and 16 GB RAM, with AMD64 or ARM64 listed. The console expects an authenticating proxy to provide user headers. Relational data can use SQLite, MySQL, or PostgreSQL; without one, data remains in memory and disappears on restart. Downgrades are unsupported. The license is AGPLv3.
Andrisoft Wansight
Andrisoft Wansight monitors, analyzes, and accounts for network traffic for NOC and IT operations teams. It does not provide DDoS detection or mitigation. Flow Sensors process flow data such as NetFlow, sFlow, jFlow, NetStream, and IPFIX, while Packet Sensors inspect traffic from mirror ports, TAPs, and in-line links. Analytics include graphs by IP, subnet, and IP group, decoder reports, top lists, and 95th-percentile accounting.
The Flow Collector can search, filter, and export flows, and Packet Tracer displays packet captures in a Wireshark-like view. Reports can cover periods from five seconds to ten years and be emailed on a schedule as PDF or Excel. Linux packages run on customer servers, with a web Console for centralized management, scoped customer and department views, role-based profiles, and white-label branding. The Console also supports SAML 2.0, LDAP, Active Directory, RADIUS, REST API, CLI, and scripts. The one-year Sensor license costs $345 a year for one Packet Sensor or one Flow Sensor, monitoring only. A reviewed request can qualify for a free 30-day evaluation license.
