In their own words
AlbumForge
AlbumForge is desktop software for creating photo albums as PDFs for printing. Its maker describes album creation as a three-click process and says the software works locally and offline, keeping photos on the user's computer. It can process 1,500 photos in five minutes, according to the maker. AlbumForge reads GPS data in photo EXIF metadata and places locations on an interactive map; map tiles may need a temporary internet connection, and the map source is OpenStreetMap. The user guide lists PDF, HTML website, JPEG, and PNG exports. AlbumForge runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows and is described as designed for families, seniors, and teachers. The free DISCOVERED plan allows 40 photos per album and includes five templates, standard PDF export, offline use, and no watermark. Paid licenses start at €29, and the download page offers a 30-day full-access trial without requiring a credit card. Higher tiers include unlimited photos on PROSOLIDARY and five licenses with FAMILY & EDUCATION.
Hofmann
Hofmann lets customers make personalized photo books and other photo products using an app, an offline desktop editor or an online editor. The app can import images from a device gallery, Google Photos, Facebook, Instagram or Dropbox. Album customization includes layouts, text, backgrounds, masks, frames and stickers. Online projects can be saved to an account, and a named project can be set to save automatically every two minutes. Before ordering, the online editor can flag issues such as blank pages or missing spine text. Listed hardcover albums range from 24 to 120 pages, with extra-page charges that vary by album. The Apaisado S hardcover album is listed at €13.99, paid once; extra pages cost 0.87 EUR each and shipping is excluded. Other listed options include hardcover albums priced at €29.99, paid once and €48.99, paid once. The offline editor is available for Mac and Windows, alongside mobile and web access. Hofmann says it processes uploaded photos to create personalized products, and its help center covers delivery, orders, payments, product creation and accounts.
