In their own words
AlgoSec
AlgoSec is a network security policy management platform for organizations working across cloud, software-defined networking, and on-premises environments. It maps applications, dependencies, network connections, and security policies to give teams visibility across those environments. FireFlow handles security policy changes through planning, risk analysis, implementation, and validation. Horizon Security Analyzer identifies risky rules, firewall cleanup opportunities, and compliance gaps, while AlgoSec describes audit reporting for PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, ISO/IEC 27001, and corporate policies. Its Cloud Enterprise offering focuses on visibility, automated security changes, and ongoing compliance for cloud environments. The platform is listed for API, Linux, self-hosted, and web use, with a hybrid deployment model and multi-vendor support. Integrations include systems from BMC Software, HP, ServiceNow, Jira, Akamai, Cisco, Illumio, Qualys, Rapid7, and Tenable. AlgoSec reports SOC 2 Type II and CSA STAR Level 1 certifications, and says its SaaS products support role-based access, SAML 2.0 single sign-on, and IP allowlisting. Pricing is on request.
NAPALM
NAPALM is a free Python library for automating network devices from multiple vendors through a shared API. It connects to devices, changes configurations, and retrieves operational data. Its core drivers cover Arista EOS, Cisco IOS, Cisco IOS-XR, Cisco NX-OS, and Juniper JunOS, with additional community drivers. Configuration methods include replace, merge, compare, commit-confirm, and rollback, although availability depends on the platform. Getters can return device facts, configurations, interface information, BGP neighbors, and environment data, with coverage varying by driver. For validation, NAPALM can compare live device state against YAML expectations and create a compliance report. The project identifies integrations with Ansible, SaltStack, and StackStorm. Installation uses `pip install napalm`, which includes the currently available core drivers. Version 5.1.0 and later supports Python 3.9 and later. It is self-hosted, licensed under Apache-2.0, and free at free. Documentation advises checking platform-specific caveats before use.
