Overview

Alice structures work around litigation case files rather than isolated prompts. It can identify facts, issues, and relationships across documents, then let users question the file in natural language. Research, argument construction, and drafting build on that same matter context, making Alice a focused option for litigation work. Teams seeking software for broader practice-management needs should look elsewhere.

Key features

Case analysis and legal research

Automatic case analysis detects facts, issues, and connections across submitted documents. Ask Alice provides a natural-language way to query the case file, which is useful when a team needs to locate or relate information without manually searching every document.

Alice Research connects case facts with relevant law and doctrine, combining public and private libraries. Its answers include source citations, giving lawyers an evidentiary trail to review instead of an unsupported conclusion. The tool is therefore suited to teams that already have legal-source access and want research tied directly to the record.

Arguments and drafting

The argument builder turns facts and research into structured arguments, rebuttals, and rejoinders, retaining citations for lawyer review. That can shorten the move from research to a coherent litigation position, while keeping professional judgment with the lawyer.

Alice Draft assembles litigation documents from facts, arguments, positions, and citations. A Microsoft Word add-in lets lawyers refine the resulting drafts in Word, a practical fit for firms whose final documents remain in that environment.

Security and deployment

Customer data is isolated by organization, encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, and encrypted in Azure databases. Document text is stored in OpenAI vector stores. Alice says personal data is processed solely within the EU, customer data is not used to train AI models, and the service complies with GDPR. Its ISO 27001 process is in the final stage before accreditation, so buyers requiring an already accredited certification should confirm that status before purchase.

Individual implementation takes under an hour, and team deployment can happen the same day. Advanced adds dedicated support and onboarding for organizations that need a more managed rollout.

Pricing

Core

Core costs €85.00 per user per month, billed monthly or yearly; yearly billing is shown with 15% off. It includes unlimited cases, automatic case analysis, research, the argument builder, and the document generator. The plan is aimed at small and medium teams and is the clearest fit for firms that want the complete matter workflow without enterprise rollout services.

Advanced

Advanced uses custom pricing and is designed for larger teams of six or more users. It includes everything in Core, plus dedicated support and onboarding, flexible user management, SharePoint integration, and tailored setup.

There is no free plan, but a 14-day trial is available. Users can change plans at any time, with no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. The per-user Core charge means costs rise directly with team size, while Advanced requires a quote before budgeting.

Platforms

Alice runs on the web and is supported on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Its Word add-in extends drafting into Microsoft Word. SharePoint integration is reserved for Advanced.

Who it's for

Alice is for lawyers and litigation teams handling matters that move repeatedly from document review to authority, argument, and written filings. Core fits small and medium teams wanting unlimited cases and the full workflow at a published per-user rate. Advanced fits larger teams and firmwide rollouts that need user administration, SharePoint, dedicated support, and tailored setup.

Pros and cons

Pro: A single matter-centered workflow links case facts, research, cited arguments, and drafting.
Pro: Source citations accompany research and generated arguments, supporting lawyer review.
Pro: Unlimited cases are included in Core, with a 14-day trial and no cancellation fees.
Pro: EU-only personal-data processing, GDPR compliance, and organization isolation address common confidentiality requirements.
Con: Core's €85-per-user monthly price can become substantial as headcount grows.
Con: Advanced pricing is custom, making larger-rollout costs harder to assess in advance.
Con: SharePoint integration and dedicated support require Advanced, and ISO 27001 accreditation is not yet complete.

Alternatives

Clearbrief is the better choice for buyers who want a freemium option, including a free law-student plan, with web and Windows support.

Zuva suits teams seeking API, self-hosted, or web deployment and a free tier with daily file, classification, language-request, and extraction limits.

LegalFly is worth considering when a broader range of platforms, including mobile, browser extension, and self-hosted options, is important.

BriefCatch fits buyers focused on individual writing assistance, with annual Individual and Pro plans rather than Alice's end-to-end matter workflow.

Judicio offers a paid professional plan with monthly credits and upload-page allowances for teams that prefer that usage model.

LegitQuest is an alternative for organizations wanting freemium legal research with annual INR pricing and AI chat allowances.

Manupatra AI Search is aimed at judgment-summary use cases, including separate High Court and Supreme Court offerings.

Verdict

Choose Alice if your litigation team wants one workspace that carries a matter from document analysis through cited research, structured arguments, and Word-based drafting. Its strongest case is the connected workflow and unlimited-case Core plan. Look elsewhere if you need a free tier, a broader non-litigation platform, or fully predictable pricing for a large rollout.
